NOTICE OF POSITION OPENING

ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION DIRECTOR

Position: Unity School District is seeking an Alternative Education Director to serve as a member of the leadership team to oversee the development, opening, and operations of a 9-12 alternative education charter school called S.O.A.R. Academy. The Alternative Education Director will work throughout the 2026-2027 planning year, alongside a Governance Board, a planning committee, and in partnership with Unity School District and the Unity Board of Education, to develop the charter program in accordance with the timeline and regulations of the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction and the Wisconsin Resource Center for Charter Schools. In subsequent years, this position will include part-time teaching responsibilities.

Qualified candidates should be able to lead collaboratively in a charter school where teachers, students, families, and community work together to provide a positive, challenging learning environment. Candidates should have exemplary interpersonal communication skills, display strong leadership and organizational skills, and have strong technology skills. Candidates should be dedicated to creatively helping students find secondary and post-secondary success in partnership with our vibrant community.

Qualifications Necessary: Qualified candidates must hold (or be able/willing to obtain) a 03, 80, 10, 93, or 51 administrative license issued by the Department of Public Instruction of the State of Wisconsin. Licensing requires a master's degree in education and a minimum of three years of experience as a teacher, counselor, coordinator, school psychologist, or school social worker. Qualified candidates must also hold a 9-12 teaching certification.
