YOU will administer emergency medical, basic, and advanced life support services in a 911 setting to the members and visitors of our Hampton community under the direction of our Operational Medical Doctor.
Typical Tasks:
Minimum Requirements:
Requires a high school diploma or GED, supplemented by specialized courses/training equivalent to successful completion of the Virginia Emergency Medical Technician Intermediate or Paramedic Program with certification.
Requires a minimum of one year of progressive EMS experience.
Must complete the Emergency Vehicle Operator's course.
Must complete NIMS 100, 200, 700, and 800.
Must maintain current Virginia EMT-Intermediate (EMT-I) certification at a minimum. Virginia Paramedic certification is strongly preferred and is required to function independently as Attendant-in-Charge on ALS units per HDFR protocols.
Must possess and maintain the following certifications
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR),
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS);
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Pediatric Education for Pre-hospital Professionals (PEPP), when required.
Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record based on the City of Hampton's criteria.
Must complete pre-employment background and drug testing screening, including, but not limited to, a polygraph examination, Department of Social Services, Office of EMS, and State Police.
Must participate in a physical fitness and/or work-performance evaluation when required.
Must complete an annual medical fitness-for-duty evaluation as required by the Department.

I currently possess EMT-Paramedic or EMT-Intermediate certification from the Commonwealth of Virginia or the National Registry.

I understand this position requires being a released ALS provider within 12 months of employment in the Peninsulas EMS Region.
