Position Summary
Acts as clinical education consultant and liaison with Allied Health departmentsto supportthe maintenance and enhancement of clinical and/or educational competence of Orlando Health Allied Health staff
Essential Functions:
• Synthesizes organization strategy and goals in identifying prioritization and planning of relevant education.
• Collaborates with Nursing and Allied Health partners to identify learning needs and opportunities.
• Assists in developing, prioritizing, and executing education action plans based on the findings of needs assessments.
• Provides general and specialty-specific education to prepare allied health and nursing staff to be safe, efficient, and competent.
• Participates in preceptor development for clinical allied health areas.
• Facilitates the communication of new/revised policies, new regulations, and continuing education requirements to clinical allied health departments.
• Acts asliaison for coordination of continuing education opportunities for allied health areas.
• Assistsin the annual assessment of competence for clinical staff utilizing the annual clinical review format and/or other skills evaluating process.
• Works with clinical partnersto plan, develop, coordinate, and evaluate programs to maintain or increase the skill/knowledge of Allied Health staff.
• Facilitates coordination and updating of orientation materials and processes for Allied Health clinicians.
• Plans, develops, coordinates, facilitates, and evaluates general as well asspecialty-specific programs in collaboration with Learning Specialists, educators, and unitleadership partners to maintain or increase the skill/knowledge of team members.
• Secures and acts as Liaison for coordination of continuing education opportunities for Allied Health areas.
• Serve as member on Allied Health Councils
• Ensures adult learning principles are integrated into all programs developed internally or presented by external sources.
• Actively participates in quality and safety initiatives to ensure team members are improving practice to support quality and safety standards.
• Facilitates and supports team member involvement in professional and organizational activities.
• Participates in the selection, evaluation, and hiring of potential team members.
• Facilitates professional development of team members through the utilization of educational curriculum.
• Provides educational materials/curriculum to maintain ongoing knowledge and compliance with organizational, regulatory policies, and procedures.
• Effectively expresses ideas in verbal and written communication to team members and groups.
• Provides input for the clinical evaluation of team members.
• Utilizes critical thinking and knowledge assessments to outline educational development plans for team members.
• Demonstrates knowledge of the research process; interprets and uses evidence-based practice guidelines in addressing learning needs.
• Responds to the mission, vision, and principles of the organization.
• Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
• Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Other Related Functions:
• Demonstrates knowledge of legal issues, patient rights, and compliance with the standards of regulatory and accrediting agencies.
• Assists interested staff in the Orlando Health career development process, counseling, and directing as needed.
• May serve as member of allied health curriculum advisory board(s) for local programs that partner with Orlando Health.
• Participates in process improvement activities as assigned.
Education/Training:
Bachelor of Science, Education, or health related field.
Licensure/Certification
• Maintains active Allied Health Clinician license in the State of Florida
• AHA BLS Healthcare Provider required.
Experience:
• Five (5) years of clinical hospital experience required.
• One (1) year of experience in an education role is required
