Allied Health Instructor

THE ROLE

LEAD Charter School seeks an exceptional Allied Health Instructor to join our mission-driven community. Our goal is to transform equity through opportunities for young people in Newark. Reporting to the Head of School, teachers at LEAD embody commitment, energy, and passion, facing challenges with the support, feedback, and collaboration of teammates and school leaders.

The mission of LEAD is to enable students ages 16-21 in grades 9-12 to master essential skills for success in careers, postsecondary education, and community leadership within a global society. We implement the Newark Opportunity Youth Network (NOYN) school model, supporting the unique academic and non-academic needs of students who have disengaged from traditional schooling. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor Degree Preferred or relevant working experience
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant.
  • Valid NJDOE Standard Certification or Certificate of Eligibility in Medical Assisting or related certification.
  • Demonstrated success in raising student achievement with underserved populations
  • Strong commitment to youth and ability to work effectively with parents.
  • Successful in creating collaborative relationships or coalitions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including use of office productivity software.
  • Robust analytical skills, with an ability to use data to drive student achievement.
  • Capacity to personalize instruction through differentiation, including use of blended learning.
  • Required criminal history background check, proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident status & NJ residency.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Curriculum development including course descriptions, objectives, and content. Prepares coursework for all assigned classes and teaches assigned courses in accordance with established NCC approved curriculum and course outlines.
  • Planning the organization of the classrooms and labs. Assigning student activities in the classroom and/or clinical settings.
  • Selection of appropriate instructional strategies and procedures participating in the selection and preparation of instructional materials.
  • Selection of appropriate materials, textbooks, equipment, and software Reviews assessment data and adjusts curriculum and instructional methodologies to improve student learning.
  • Devises written lesson plans and implements them through lecture and demonstration.
  • Maintain equipment in instructional areas.
  • Evaluation of student progress as related to learning objectives Maintains records of student progress and performance, attendance and grades.
  • Prepares, administers, and grades, written and practical examinations during the course of study.
  • Maintenance of appropriate student records.
  • Orient, counsel, and advise students as needed.
  • Participate in program evaluation and maintenance of educational and professional standards.
  • Assist with, and maintain program accreditation.
  • Attend workshops, seminars and in-services for professional development
  • Maintains an environment which is conducive to learning with particular attention to safety practices, good housekeeping and student behavior
  • Willingness to provide a professional role model for students is responsible to assist the student to develop an understanding of values, attitudes, and ideals appropriate to the healthcare profession.
  • Ability to work effectively with others.

EVALUATION

  • Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with the board's policy on evaluation.
