Job Description:

Job Title: PPT Coordinator

Type of position: Full-time (40 hrs./wk.)/12 months

Summary: The primary function of a PPT coordinator is to facilitate and oversee the implementation of individualized education plans. Their role is crucial in ensuring that students receive appropriate educational services and support. The PPT coordinator is a liaison between various stakeholders to create a supportive learning environment that meets the individual needs of each student.

Essential Job Functions/Duties/Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with school staff: Work closely with teachers, administrators, and other school personnel to gather information to ensure the effective implementation of IEPs. Coordinate with teachers to support the needs of students.
  • IEP development: Guide the development, review, and revision of individualized education plans for students. This involves conducting and/or scheduling assessments, gathering relevant data, and actively involving parents or guardians, as well as the student, in the process.
  • Transition Planning: Guide the development of transition plans for students with disabilities, starting from middle school through high school and into post-secondary options. Individualized Transition Plans (ITPs) should address academic, vocational, social, and independent living goals.
  • Teacher Coaching and Mentoring: Coach and mentor teachers, conducting classroom observations, providing constructive feedback, and offering support to enhance instructional techniques and classroom management.
  • Evaluation and Feedback: Conduct performance evaluations for teachers, providing feedback on their instructional practices and professional growth.
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Oversee the assessment and evaluation process for students. Collaborate with related service providers, teachers, and other specialists to ensure appropriate testing and interpretation of results to inform IEP development and progress monitoring.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Analyze student achievement data and other relevant metrics to identify areas for improvement and inform instructional decisions.
  • Compliance with Laws and Regulations: Stay up to date with federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to special education. Ensure that all IEPs are in compliance with legal requirements, including timelines, content, and procedural safeguards.
  • Progress Monitoring: Establish systems and procedures to regularly monitor and evaluate student progress toward IEP goals and objectives. Analyze data and make recommendations for adjustments to interventions or services as needed.
  • Parent Communication and Collaboration: Maintain ongoing communication and collaboration with parents or guardians. Keep them informed about their child's progress, address their concerns, and involve them in the decision-making process regarding their child's education.
  • Professional Development: Engage in continuous professional development to stay current on best practices in special education, assessment tools, and instructional strategies. Attend relevant workshops, conferences, and training sessions to enhance your knowledge and skills. Facilitate professional development for staff.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, which may include teachers, related service providers, and administrators. Foster a team approach to support the educational & behavioral needs of students.
  • Collaboration with Leadership Team: Collaborate with school administrators to align instructional initiatives with the schools overall mission and strategic goals.
  • District Communication & Collaboration: Check-in with districts prior to PPTs to help facilitate needs, questions, short & long-term planning.
  • Advocacy: Advocate for the rights and needs of students within the school and community. Stay informed about available resources and support services to help students access appropriate accommodations and services.
  • Record Keeping and Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records related to IEPs, assessments, progress monitoring, and communication with parents and other professionals. Ensure confidentiality of student information in compliance with privacy laws.

Education Requirements:

  • Masters or Doctoral degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field.
  • Relevant teaching experience and a background in instructional leadership and professional development.
  • State licensure or certification as an educational administrator (if required by the state or district).
