Assistant Head of School for Strategic Academic Initiatives

Job Summary:

The Assistant Head of School for Strategic Academic Initiatives is responsible for the successful implementation of the Academys Academic Concentration program, multilingual learner programming and will assist in the academic administration of both campuses. The Assistant Head of School for Strategic Academic Initiatives works in conjunction with the Head of School, Associate Head of School for External Affairs and the Principal to support student success at The Woodstock Academy. The Assistant Head of School for Strategic Academic Initiatives also works in conjunction with the guidance department to oversee the successful implementation of the Academic Concentrations program and is responsible for creating community partnerships for Woodstock Academy students. This position promotes 21" century educational excellence through the vigorous support of the mission and goals of The Academy. The Assistant Head of School for Strategic Academic Initiatives practices high professional standards while working cooperatively with administration, faculty, staff, students, families, and the community in the best interest of Academy students.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Possess Connecticut Certification as a CT Intermediate Administrator (092); required
  • Advanced Degree (Masters/CAGS) in Education required.
  • Possess Connecticut Certification Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) Grades PreK-12; (111) required
  • Possess or eligibility for Connecticut Certification as a CT Superintendent of Schools (093); preferred
  • Possess Connecticut Certification as a School Guidance Counselor (068); preferred
  • Possess Connecticut Certification for Special Education K-12 (165); preferred
  • Experience running successful student programming and transitional work required.
  • Successful experience as a district level and/or building administrator required.
  • Demonstrated excellence in human relations.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication, technology, and interpersonal skills; and
  • Positive attitude, and a sense of humor essential.

General Duties:

  • Lead the implementation and ongoing development of the Academy's Academic Concentration program, ensuring alignment with the mission and strategic goals of The Woodstock Academy.
  • Support and assist in the coordination and development of programming for Multilingual Learners (MLL) in collaboration with faculty and student support staff.
  • Work closely with the Head of School, Principal, and Associate Head of School to promote student success and ensure strong coordination of academic support programs.
  • Collaborate with the Guidance Department to ensure the successful implementation and continuous improvement of the Academic Concentrations program.
  • Develop and maintain community, industry, and institutional partnerships that expand experiential learning opportunities for Woodstock Academy students.
  • Assist in the academic administration of South Campus, supporting program coordination, teacher evaluation and student success initiatives.
  • Work with faculty and administrators to integrate Academic Concentrations into the broader academic program, ensuring rigor and alignment with college and career readiness goals.
  • Promote innovative and forward-thinking educational practices that support 21st century learning and student achievement.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Academy and community organizations, businesses, and educational partners involved in student programming.
  • Support initiatives that strengthen postsecondary readiness, including college, career, and experiential learning opportunities for students.
  • Uphold high standards of professional leadership and educational administration while working collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, families, and community partners.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School in support of the mission and strategic goals of The Woodstock Academy.
