ANNOUNCEMENT OF VACANCY

Position Title: Director of Adult Education

Location: New Milford High School

Position Reports To: Assistant Superintendent of Schools

Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible

Required Certification

106 - High School Credit Diploma Program, 088 ESL

Secondary High School Certification - preferred

General Scope of Function

The Adult Education Director will lead and manage the adult education program and workforce needs focusing on curriculum development, program implementation, and community engagement. This role requires a passionate advocate for lifelong learning, committed to improving educational outcomes for adult learners.The Director is also responsible for grant writing, budget development, and resource management to sustain and grow the program. The Director ensures compliance with State policies, procedures, and other funder requirements while overseeing data collection, outcomes, and performance measures for all programs. Additionally, the Director provides supervision and leadership to promote staff development.

Preferred Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/ or abilities required:

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in adult education or related programs.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficient in data analysis and program evaluation.
  • Familiarity with grant writing and fundraising is a plus.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Program Development:

  • Design and implement comprehensive adult education programs tailored to the needs of diverse learners.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop curriculum and instructional materials.

  • Leadership & Management:

  • Supervise and mentor staff, including educators and administrative personnel.

  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive environment that encourages professional development.

  • Community Engagement:

  • Build partnerships with local organizations, employers, and community leaders to promote adult education opportunities.

  • Conduct outreach efforts to raise awareness about available programs.

  • Assessment & Evaluation:

  • Develop and implement assessment tools to measure student progress and program effectiveness.

  • Analyze data to drive program improvements and report outcomes to stakeholders.

  • Budget & Resource Management:

  • Oversee program budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources.

  • Seek funding opportunities, including grants and partnerships, to support program initiatives.

  • Compliance & Accreditation:

  • Ensure programs meet local, state, and federal regulations and accreditation standards.

  • Stay current with trends in adult education and workforce development.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

The person in this position will be responsible for any additional duties and/ or responsibilities as assigned or required by the Assistant Superintendent of Schools

Physical Activity:

The position will require infrequent lifting, pulling, or pushing during the normal performance of the tasks and responsibilities. Work may require frequent walking and standing.

Work Environment:

Work is performed in the school environment.

Technology:

Uses computers, network systems, provided district technology and job-related equipment as required.

Travel Requirements:

Travel to state agencies, and professional meetings as required

Terms of Employment

Work Schedule: 12 month position - M-F 1:00 p.m. - 9:00p.m.
