Job Description

The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA), Alaska Military Youth Academy (AMYA), is recruiting for a AMYA Instructor.

This position is in the General Government (GGU) bargaining unit at a range 16.

This position is open to Alaska Residents only.

What You Will Be Doing:

As part of the AMYA faculty, you will be focusing on creating tailored lesson plans and curricula across multiple disciplines including English, Math, Social Studies, and Science, aligned with Cognia standards, while developing assessment tools and evaluating program effectiveness. In this role you will be implementing diverse instructional strategies to enhance student understanding and skills, fostering individual goal-setting and responsibility, and maintaining positive relationships with staff, parents, and outside agencies. As our new instructor, you will also supervise student work, assign lessons, correct homework, and administer tests, ensuring compliance with accreditation standards and promoting a supportive learning environment.

The successful applicants must pass a federal background check in order to qualify for military base access, which is required with this positions work location on base. The background check may include fingerprinting. Minimum Qualifications

A bachelors degree from an accredited college;

AND

Two years of experience working with children and/or young adults grades K through 12 in an academic environment as an instructor, instructional aide, counselor, or similar capacity.
