Highly responsible supervisory administrative and technical work directing and coordinating the work of electricians and maintenance personnel engaged in the construction, installation, maintenance, repair and servicing of high, medium and low-voltage electrical, communicationsand electronics systems, including panel boards, communication systems, interior and exterior lighting systems, airport runway lighting systems, electrical circuits, generators, electrical pumps and motors, and related systems, devices and equipment. May be called upon to participate in the performance of electrical work. Troubleshoots electrical problems; reviews and updates complex electrical plans, confers with contractors, consultants, local, state and federal government agencies regarding proposed and existing electrical construction work for electrical code compliance. Monitors all aspects of project activities until completed, documents problems, recommends solutions, prepares maintenance schedules and associated job plans, produces purchase requisitions for materials used, prepares reports which include status or projects etc. Responds to all electrical emergency situations and performs additional duties as assigned or required; and related work as required. *This position is considered essential. Employees in this assignment must report to work for natural disasters or other declared emergency situations.
1. A High School Diploma or GED. 2. A valid driver's license. * Applicants must be eligible for coverage under the airport's auto liability insurance policy. AND 3. A valid Class "A" Master Electrical License* or a Louisiana State Electrical License or Journeymen's License. Out of area Class "A" Master Electrical or Journeymen's Licenses are acceptable. However, if hired, the candidate must show proof of an active Class "A" Master Electrical License with the City of New Orleans or a Louisiana State Electrical License within one hundred and twenty (120) days of hire. Failure to do so will result in termination. AND 4. Eight (8) years of full-time paid experience as a licensed electrician with at least five (5) years of this experience at an airport facility. OR Eight (8) years of relevant experience in electrical maintenance, engineering, design, commissioning, maintenance, or manufacturing, with at least five (5) years of recent experience in large and complex work environments such as hospitals, municipalities, post-secondary campuses, or industrial plants. AND At least three (3) years of supervisory experience managing teams. NOTE: An associate's degree from an accredited college or university may substitute for two years of non-supervisory experience. NOTE: If hired, Aviation employees must maintain all required licenses, permits, certificates, and auto liability insurance eligibility during the duration of their employment. Failure to comply with any of the above listed provisions may result in termination. Prior to appointment, the hiring agency is required to verify any education or licenses claimed by the applicant to qualify for this classification. If selected for hire, applicants must provide original documents of their qualifying credentials to the hiring agency prior to their start date in this job classification.

Note: Candidates must pass a personal, criminal, and employment background check required under federal regulations. This is a non-competitive original entrance examination in accordance with Rule V, Section 8.1 (b) of the City Civil Service Rules. This position requires a one year probationary period.
