Shipco Transport Inc., a leading international cargo transportation company, has an immediate opening at our LAF branch located in Hawthorne, CA for an experienced Airfreight Export Agent.
We are looking for a candidate who is proactive, dynamic, highly motivated, reliable and who understands and appreciates the importance of a team effort. The candidate should also possess the ability to ‘think outside the box’, and think and work outside their local market, and be aware of various time zones and regional norms for all parties involved.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform export transactions from start to finish, including quoting, arranging pick-ups, booking with airlines, setting up pre-bookings and consolidations, tracking, tracing, and invoicing shipments.
- Prepare accurate and competitive quotes while assisting with pricing strategies based on market conditions and customer needs.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of airline carrier requirements, routing options, and service levels to ensure proper booking and compliance.
- Ensure that all export compliance standards and TSA regulations are met for every shipment.
- Communicate effectively with agents, carriers, and customers to maintain efficient and compliant import and export processes.
- Monitor shipment progress and proactively resolve any issues or delays.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Minimum 1-3 years of operations and customer service experience in airfreight cargo consolidations is required. Prefer experience from an airfreight consolidator or neutral wholesale background, but a candidate with NVOCC, VOCC, or freight forwarder experience may also apply.
- Must be knowledgeable in all aspects of daily airfreight operations, customer service, documentation, and government and carrier regulations.
- DG/Hazmat trained preferred.
- Must be able to work under pressure and enjoy a fast-paced, multi-tasking, customer service-minded environment.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication as well as organizational skills.
