The Division of Administration/Office of Aircraft Services has a vacancy. This job title has an assigned pay grade of WS-223.

The Office of Aircraft Services is responsible for maintaining and repairing aircraft owned by state agencies within the executive branch of government.

The Division of Administration is the state government's management arm and the hub of its financial operations. Division offices perform a wide variety of activities including the following:

  • Overseeing the state's capital construction program
  • Working to provide state and federal grants for community development
  • Development of the state budget
  • Providing technology services
  • Giving agencies guidance in the state purchasing and contracting process as they seek goods and services
  • Administering a program that provides federal funds to help Louisiana residents recover from a series of devastating hurricanes

Minimum Qualifications

Possession of a current Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certificate with Inspection Authorization (IA) plus four years of aviation maintenance experience.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

  • Directs, plans, schedules and coordinates all activities and functions of the aviation maintenance program to minimize delays and increase safety, productivity and efficiency of maintenance personnel.
  • Develops and recommends work standards, methods and implements policy and procedural changes to permit full utilization of personnel and equipment.
  • Designs and implements inspection standards, methods and procedures to comply with all applicable FAA regulations, manufacturers recommendations, and State of Louisiana laws, rules and regulations.
  • Maintains all forms and records in compliance with acceptable maintenance and inspection procedures, FAA regulations and department policies.
  • Ensures all maintenance work is completed in compliance with all applicable FAA regulations and manufacturers recommendations.
  • Maintains complete parts coordination and inventory control for the fixed wing and the rotary wing maintenance sections.
  • Provides administrative personnel with frequent maintenance management information and reports such as maintenance management information and reports such as maintenance costs, production reports, parts data, etc.,to ensure maintenance management accountability.
  • Coordinates program efforts with other agencies and advises higher level officials on problems involving relationship of work units to other programs and their impact on such programs.
  • Coordinates buying and selling of new or used aircraft including appraisal and specification development for trade-in or disposal of machines.
  • Directs the management of budget, accounting, maintenance and property control services for the State Office of Aircraft Services.
  • Schedules training courses, as needed, for all aviation maintenance personnel to develop and retain a competent maintenance staff.
  • Delegates authority to subordinates and holds them accountable for the accomplishment of organizational goals. Resolves problems presented by subordinates.
  • Evaluates performance of subordinate staff.
