PENDING CONTRACT AWARD JOB TITLE Aircraft Power Plant Mechanic LOCATION Rota Spain TASK DESCRIPTION Aircraft Mechanic Leads a team in the performance of aircraft maintenance inspections and scheduled unscheduled maintenance. Processes the technical experience to supervise subordinate mechanics and provide technical guidance on maintenance operations on the airframe being supported. Capable of performing supervising and inspecting the duties of other Mechanics. A person in this position maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures structural components and engines of complex to extreme difficulty maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls engines hydraulics pneumatics fuel systems and mechanical components and applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies technical expertise in restoring equipment condition and operation. This worker also applies professional technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as blueprints or manufactures manuals. Work typically requires a thoroughly comprehensive knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshootingrepair procedures and replacement of components a thorough knowledge of aircraft sheet metalstructural modification and repair and the ability to determine functionality of non-complex electrical systems. A detailed knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment torque wrenches dial indicators micrometers cable tensiometers sheet metal brakes and sheers etc. is required. Must possess the experience and ability to provide technical support to structuralmechanical engineers and customers alike must possess excellent organizational skills in prioritizing workload to meet aircraft delivery schedule. This worker will be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records and is responsible for providing guidance and technical expertise to lower level technicians throughout all aircraft modifications andor maintenance efforts. Skill and Knowledge Shall have the ability to troubleshoot malfunctions in various aircraft systems and be able to perform general Organizational Intermediate and Depot Level maintenance and possess one or more of the specialties of the assigned aircraft below Power Plants and related Sub-Systems Fuel and Air Systems and related Sub-systems Must be knowledgeable of technical directives NAMP programs and shall be knowledgeable of and understand basic supply procedures. Aircraft Mechanic shall have experience writing with clarity and technical accuracy and ensure adherence to all applicable policies and procedures. Possess a high degree of expertise in the control and coordination of aircraft maintenance. Thorough working knowledge of applicable maintenancetechnical manuals and publications. Thorough working knowledge of aircraft maintenance records. Working understanding of the aircraft and aircraft systems. Disassembles componentssystems troubleshoots replaces modifies repairs reassembles componentssystems and tests a variety of systems e.g. hydraulic oil fuel landing gear assemblies and pressurization systems. Installs adjusts aligns troubleshoots and performs final functional and operational tests on a variety of major aircraft systems their assemblies components and prototypes i.e. airframe landing gear power plant rotor drive gear boxes rotor heads rotor blades pumps and hydraulic pressurization utility fuel oil pneumatic and flight control systems safety and survival equipment etc. during overhaul repair or Disassembles componentssystems and determines the required repairs reassembles and reinstalls on aircraft. Installs aligns and adjusts complete new systems. Connects related systems such as hydraulicpneudraulic and cable systems to newly installed or repaired units. Completes check out procedures to ensure proper operation. May be required to overhaul repair parts accessories and components of hydraulicpneudraulic systems environmental control systems flight control systems and vent systems. Visually checks components to locate worn dirty or poorly adjusted parts and accessories. Corrects problems by removing cleaning reinstalling or replacing defective parts e.g. bad actuators corroded fuel lines etc. Looks up replacement parts in manuals or compares with samples. Obtains standard parts that are identified. Upon completion of these repairs makes adjustments and settings such as cable tension seat settings. Uses a wide variety of precision measuring instruments such as calipers protractors snap rings height and depth dial indicators micrometers and hand tools e.g. hammers torque wrenches pliers wrenches fixtures templates precision dial calipers feeler gauges ground support equipment hydraulic test stands test equipment electric and pneumatic hoisting equipment. Duties may include minor preservation on various aircraft and engines to include but not limited to preservation inspections. Inspections will include but are not limited to inspect aircraft for leaks Main Landing Gear MLG and Nose Landing Gear NLG shock struts for cracks damage security and leakage. Lubricating MLG and NLG strut pistons with hydraulic fluid. Knowledge of the makeup operation installation and adjustment of a variety of major interrelated andor integrated aircraft systems subsystems and assemblies such as fuel and hydraulic systems flight control systems instrumentation systems engines landing gear assemblies airframe and control surfaces. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematic diagrams. Ability to perform work to close tolerances. Knowledge and skill in the use of standard and specialized tools and test equipment of the trade including fixtures templates scales test stands and external power sources. Duties may include but not limited to collateral duties as IMDS interpreter machinist or IMRL coordinator.
