Duties Help

As a AIRCRAFT PNEUDRAULIC SYSTEMS MECHANIC WG-8268-10 duties include

1 Performs maintenance and operational and functional checks on assigned pneudraulic systems. Troubleshoots removes inspects installs repairs modifies rebuilds andor tests pneudraulic systems and components for aircraft pneudraulic systems associated ground support equipment andor related test equipment. Accomplishes periodic and special inspections on hydraulic components. Inspects all components and subsystems for operation internal and external leakage and servicing. Operates portable test stands for checkout of pneudraulic system. Removes installs andor repairs Pneudraulic components from aircraft and associated aerospace ground equipment. Removes disassembles cleans repairs assembles components and tests completed unit. Operates test equipment for all hydraulic components. Inspects for cracks scratches nicks and holes on seals gaskets packings and hoses. Modifies systems and their components. Rigs adjusts and aligns hydraulic components to ensure maximum operating efficiency. Polishes cylinders and pistons to ensure proper fit. Investigates pneudraulic failures to determine causes and accomplishes corrective maintenance.

2 Performs installation modification andor repair of aircraft pneudraulic systems. Determines proper maintenance and repair procedures and minimum requirements pertaining to parts clearance and tolerances and performance characteristics of pneudraulic systems and related aerospace ground equipment. Solves unusual maintenance problems by studying layout drawings schematic diagrams applicable technical publications and analyzing construction and operating characteristics of pneudraulic systems. Determines repair procedures necessary to correct defective equipment. Diagnoses recurring malfunctions and recommends corrective action by initiation of Quality Deficiency Reports proposed modifications or other appropriate actions. Performs Time Compliance Technical Orders TCTOs related to pneudraulic systems. Accomplishes local manufacture of hose assemblies and provides testing of aircraft tubing. Accomplishes hydraulic fluid sampling on assigned aircraft test stands and servicing equipment. Repairs in-flight refueling systems on tanker aircraft.

3 Performs organizational and field level maintenance to include periodic phase time calendar unscheduled and special inspection. Provides technical assistance to other shops concerning complicated interaction malfunctions between other systems subsystems and components. Jacks aircraft to simulate flight configuration connects power sources and uses cockpit controls gauges and additional precision instruments to check the operation of such items as landing gear doors ground and flight spoilers and steering and brake systems for performance and conformance to operating specifications.

4 Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations such as ORI IG and UE inspections mobility and command support exercises. May be required to perform such additional duties as structural fire fighting aircraft firecrashrescue duty serve as security guard remove snow load and handle munitions launchrecover and service of aircraft operate heavy equipment maintain facilities and equipment or serves as a member of a team to cope with natural disasters or civil emergencies.

5 Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED This is a Title 32 excepted service position that requires membership in the Nebraska Army National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform daily. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

DEFINITION OF AREAS OF CONSIDERATION

AREA 1 Current permanent and indefinite technicians of the Nebraska Army or Air National Guard and current Title 5 employees of the Nebraska Military Department who are military members of the Nebraska National Guard.

AREA 2 All Drill StatusM-Day members and temporary technicians of the Nebraska Air or Army National Guard.

AREA 3 Current military service members who are willing and eligible to become members of the Nebraska Air or Army National Guard.

AREA 4 All qualified candidates eligible and willing to become a member of the Nebraska National Air or Army National Guard prior to the effective date of hire.

Military Grades Maximum E6 Minimum E3 Military Grade inversion within the full time work forces is not permitted. The military grade of the full time supervisor must equal or exceed the military grade of the personnel supervised. Compatibility will be followed in accordance with 32 USC 709b and 10 USC 10216. Compatibility requirements must be met prior to appointment to the position.

Security Clearance Background Check requirements

In order to comply with US DOD requirements and ensure the safety and security of the missions programs property and personnel of the Nebraska Military Department employees must obtain the appropriate background investigation and maintain the level of security clearance assigned to their respective work.

Failure to obtain within one year of appointment and maintain the designated type of security clearancebackground check required for the respective work may result in a job offer being rescinded separations of employment or other actions as may be deemed in the best interest of the agency.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE Experience or training which demonstrates your knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical principles knowledge of troubleshooting procedures used to isolate malfunctions in aircraft pneudraulic systems and ability to use technical manuals equipment specifications and test calibration procedures in performing the work.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE WG-10 12 months experience or training which provided a knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical principles. Experience in fabricating fuel oil and vacuum hose lines. Experience in servicing maintaining disassembling assembling repairing and testing hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Experience in diagnosing malfunctions and overhauling pneudraulic accessories by disassembling cleaning part and examining parts. Experience in diagnosing trouble and determining remedies. Experience in repairing rebuilding and overhauling major systems of ground equipment and pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Experience in mechanical repairs using hand tools and test equipment. Experience that demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals specifications and publications.
