Job Title: Aircraft Structural Repair Technician
Job Summary:
Perform closestolerancedrilling,reaming,removal,andinstallationtocriticalsupportstructuresandfracturecriticalareas. Locate blindholes necessary for installation of new structural itemstoexistingstructure. Perform efforts associated with sealing, painting, shimming, and preserving structure in accordance with standard repair processes.
Responsibilities:
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical orders, process specifications, and retrofit requirements to perform structural modification/repair • Use tooling assemblies and fixtures for depot-level modification and repair of structural parts • Knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting/repair procedures and replacement of components • Knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modification and repair and the ability to determine functionality of non-complex electrical systems • Knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, sheet metal brakes, and shears, etc.
Working Conditions:
• Access aircraft data via computer system and initiate on-line parts and discrepancy requests • Maintain necessary certifications, licenses, and permits as required for assigned work • Ascend and descend vertical work ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift loads of approximately 35 pounds • Ensure working environment is deemed safe for access and job task performance via Hazardous Energy and Lock-Out/Tag systems applications • Assist team members (General Mechanics, Avionics, Electronics) to ensure cost/schedule targets are met
Security Clearance:
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance post-start is required. The position requires compliance to SASite Tool and FOD procedure.
Basic Qualifications:
• 4+ years of experience working with non-porous metals, such as aluminum, titanium, and stainless • 4+ years of experience working with schematics, specifications, assembly drawings, and standard operating procedures • 4+ years of experience using structural hand tools such as drills, 45 and 90-degree, pancake adapters, countersink cages, hole finders, and rivet guns • 4+ years of experience working with heavy structures: locating, drilling, countersinking, and fastening structures (i.e. doublers, stringers, webs, seat tracks, etc.) to aircraft
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in aircraft maintenance (F-15 or Depot Level) • Experience working with titanium aircraft structures • Ability to operate a forklift, mobile crane, and riding type electric power-elevating equipment • Ability to perform the following requirements: • The candidate must be able to ascend and descend vertical work ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift loads of approximately 35 pounds. • Exposure to noise, working on elevated platforms • Use personal protective gear for face, eyes, ears, hand, and arms as required. • Pass visual acuity and color perception tests. • Read, write, and comprehend the English language. • Handle, use, and dispose of hazardous material. • Obtain and maintain training certifications as required to support assignment responsibilities. • Occasional (1-3 hours) finger manipulation. • On occasion, a 2-person lift may be necessary for weights greater than 50 lbs. • Frequent reaching overhead (3-6 hours). • Frequent walking on flat surfaces. • Frequent standing on flat or uneven surfaces. • Frequent balancing on a ladder, steps, or uneven surfaces. • Occasional climbing on 3-12 ft ladders or stands. • Rotation of head/neck, sitting, crawling, squatting, bend/stoop, lying down, and operate foot controls for an extended period of time. • Occasional contact with metals. • Frequent exposure to noise.
