The primary purpose is to serve as the Senior Air Reserve Technician (ART) Officer with overall supervision and management of either an Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, a Maintenance Squadron, an Equipment Maintenance Squadron or a Component Maintenance Squadron at an Air Force Reserve Command (AFRC) unit-equipped or associate unit.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plans, organizes, and oversees the activities of the squadron. Manages assigned maintenance resources and ensures production meets operational requirements and technical standards.
Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities to include personnel and position management, equal opportunity, security, and safety.
Represents organization with a variety of installation and functional area organizations. Establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships with internal and external customers.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade (GS-11) or equivalent. Specialized experience must include which includes planning, directing, organizing, coordinating maintenance activities and funding of aircraft maintenance with broad knowledge of aircraft maintenance management practices, procedures and organizational and mission requirements; capabilities and limitations and knowledge of basic operating principles of assigned aircraft systems and components; basic munitions, munitions procedures and quality assurance and other unit operations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the GS-11 or above grade/level or equivalent position in the federal service.
FEDERALTIME-IN-GRADE (TIG)REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in--grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Broad knowledge of aircraft maintenance management practices, procedures and organizational and mission requirements; capabilities and limitations.
Knowledge of basic operating principles of assigned aircraft systems and components; basic munitions, munitions procedures and quality assurance and other unit operations.
Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization through subordinate supervisors.
Ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources.
Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
Knowledge of maintenance information systems.
Knowledge and ability to interpret instructions, specifications, technical orders, publications and operating procedures.
OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTS:
This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) officer position. The incumbent is required to meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements. Work schedule will be aligned to allow incumbent to fully participate in unit training assemblies (UTA). The incumbents regular assignments are ART duties; however, the incumbent may be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities.
May be required to fly in commercial and military aircraft to perform temporary/permanent duty assignments.
May act in the absence of higher level supervisor up to and including the Group Commander.
Performs uncommon tours of duty. May be required to work other than normal duty hours which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
AFRC command-wide geographic mobility is a condition of employment for all ART officer positions.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
