The Kodiak Island Borough School District has the following vacancies for the 2026-2027 school year:

AIDE II- 2 positions available

Location: Peterson, Kodiak Alaska

Hours: 5.5 hrs/day, 5 days/week / 9 months

Salary: Entry Range 12, Step 1: $19.97 per hour

Position Summary: The Aide II works as an assistant to the regular classroom and vocational education classrooms. Performs aide duties working with students on a one-to-one and/or group basis.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to work well with public, students, staff and parents.
  • Ability to carry out tasks assigned by the teacher/supervisor.
  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of students, staff, school business, materials, and information.
  • Ability to safely, regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities:

  • Work under the supervision of the teacher/supervisor assigned.
  • Under the supervision of the teacher/supervisor, secure and assist in the development of subject matter materials and use of other instructional equipment.
  • Assist students with work or projects assigned.
  • Duplicate materials.
  • Distribute, collect and assist in correcting materials, and assist in instructional record keeping tasks.
  • Assist teacher/supervisor in fostering safety practices.
  • Supervise playground and/or assist on field trips.
  • Help with inventory.
  • May assist with supervision of such activities as: lunchroom duties, collection of lunch money, library activities, recess or bus duties, etc.
  • May monitor the classroom independently for short periods of time when the teacher must leave the room.
  • May include independent instruction or monitoring of groups or individual students in systems that the aide has received training in, under the close supervision of the teacher.
  • Maintain confidentiality of students, staff, school business, materials, and information.
  • Other duties as assigned from time to time.
