The Program Manager, AI serves as the operational backbone of the enterprise AI portfolio, ensuring AI initiatives are aligned, governed, prioritized, and delivered with transparency. This role is responsible for managing the intake, oversight, reporting, and performance of AI initiatives across the organization, partnering with business leaders, technology teams, and functional stakeholders to maximize value realization and portfolio effectiveness. Operating within the AI Center of Excellence (CoE), this role leads a matrixed team and provides direction to contract Analyst and Project Manager resources supporting the AI portfolio.

The role combines program management, portfolio governance, stakeholder engagement, and financial oversight to support the successful scaling of AI across the enterprise. This role is ideal for a highly organized, business-oriented program manager who can bring structure, visibility, and discipline to a growing enterprise AI portfolio while influencing outcomes without direct authority.

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise AI Registry & Intake Management

  • Manage and maintain the enterprise AI registry as the single source of truth for all AI initiatives across business units and functions.
  • Own the intake and review process for new AI use cases, ensuring alignment with governance standards and strategic priorities.
  • Coordinate approvals, documentation, and sign-off requirements through the AI Center of Excellence (CoE) and other governance bodies.
  • Monitor initiative status, risks, dependencies, and outcomes throughout the life cycle.

AI Portfolio Governance & Rationalization

  • Support ongoing evaluation of the AI portfolio using defined value criteria, including business impact, strategic alignment, cost-benefit analysis, and implementation feasibility.
  • Facilitate regular portfolio reviews and provide recommendations regarding prioritization, scaling, pausing, or discontinuing initiatives.
  • Develop portfolio reporting and dashboards that provide leaders with clear visibility into AI investments and outcomes.
  • Ensure portfolio decisions are informed by data, business objectives, and enterprise priorities.

Pipeline Management & Stakeholder Partnership

  • Coordinate the review process for active and proposed AI initiatives.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for designated business functions and AI stakeholders.
  • Build strong relationships across business, technology, finance, and operational teams to ensure alignment and execution.
  • Identify and escalate risks, barriers, and resource constraints impacting portfolio performance.
  • Track progress against key milestones and implementation timelines.

Financial Oversight & Performance Tracking

  • Partner with Finance, Value & Benefits, and business stakeholders to support financial analysis of AI initiatives.
  • Monitor budgets, project spend, and value realization metrics across the portfolio.
  • Support development of business cases, benefits tracking, and post-implementation reviews.
  • Provide leadership with insights on portfolio performance, investment effectiveness, and realized outcomes.

Program Operations & Continuous Improvement

  • Establish and maintain standardized program management processes, tools, templates, and reporting mechanisms.
  • Drive consistency in portfolio governance, project documentation, and stakeholder communications.
  • Identify opportunities to improve portfolio management practices and operational efficiency.
  • Support leadership presentations, executive reviews, and strategic planning activities related to AI adoption and investment.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Project Management, Information Technology, Engineering, Finance, or related field.
  • Five plus years of experience in program management, portfolio management, project management, strategy, operations, or related discipline.
  • Experience managing cross-functional initiatives involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience developing executive-level presentations, dashboards, and status reporting.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting AI, digital transformation, data, analytics, or technology portfolios.
  • Knowledge of portfolio governance, business case development, and value realization methodologies.
  • Proficiency with project management and portfolio management tools.
  • Familiarity with Agile, Lean, or project management frameworks.
  • PMP, PgMP, Agile, or similar certification.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

  • Primarily office environment.
  • Constantly operates a computer.
  • Must be able to remain stationary 50% of the time.
  • Ability to travel 10% of the time.
