About the teamThe AI Deployment Engineer team ensures the safe and effective deployment of Generative AI applications for developers and enterprises. Acting as a trusted advisor, we build a backlog of frontier AI use cases and drive them to production through strong technical guidance. As an AI Deployment Engineer in the Digital Native segment, you'll help large and sophisticated companies transform their business with custom AI solutions such as customer service, automated content generation, contextual search, and personalization, leveraging OpenAI's newest models and capabilities.About the roleWe are looking for a driven solutions leader with a product mindset to partner with our customers and ensure tangible business value from frontier AI. You will pair with senior customer leaders to establish AI strategic roadmaps, identify high‑value applications, and work with engineering and product teams to move prototypes to production. You will design enterprise architectures using OpenAI APIs and collaborate closely with Sales, Solutions Engineering, Applied Research, and Product.This role is based in our SF or Seattle office. We use a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees.In this role, you will:Deeply embedded with our most sophisticated platform customers, serving as their technical thought partner in ideating and building novel applications on our APIs.Proactively provide guidance to maximize business impact from applications, accelerating their time to value.Experiment and prototype solutions with and for customers.Forge and manage relationships with customer leadership and stakeholders to ensure successful deployment and scale.Contribute to our open‑source developer and enterprise resources.Scale the AI Deployment Engineering function by sharing knowledge, codifying best practices, and publishing cookbooks to internal and external repositories.Validate, synthesize, and deliver high‑signal feedback to Product, Engineering, and Research.You'll thrive in this role if you:Have 5+ years of technical consulting experience.Are proficient in Python and JavaScript.Built and/or delivered prototypes on top of our API platform.Led complex technical projects and programs with many stakeholders.Can proactively identify opportunities for maximizing customer business value through OpenAI APIs.Own problems end‑to‑end and willingly acquire missing knowledge to get the job done, ensuring team and customer success.Are excited to contribute to frontier AI capabilities by consolidating field feedback to product and applied research.Have a humble attitude and an eagerness to help others with empathy.Operate with high horsepower, adept at frequent context switching and working on multiple projects with expansive ownership, and ruthlessly prioritize.Thrive in dynamic environments and navigate ambiguity with ease.About OpenAIOpenAI is an AI research and deployment company dedicated to ensuring that general‑purpose artificial intelligence benefits all of humanity.
