All applicants must be able, willing and qualified to perform the work described in the job order and must be available for the entire period of employment specified in Section A.3 & A.4. The percentage of apples which are produced and packed by Sunrise Orchards, Inc. is 100% and ZERO percent of apples are grown by other producers. Workers will be required to press apples into cider and pack apples in a packing house. Workers must be able to complete all tasks required to produce, bottle, and pack apple cider. Cider-making duties may include setup and operation of the cider press, performing all tasks involved in the cider-making process, and cleaning and storing equipment after pressing. Tasks include forklift operation to load bulk bins of apples onto processing equipment, operation of the apple grinder, distribution and placement of apple mash onto press racks, operation of the apple press and transfer pumps, and manual bottling of cider into jugs. Cleaning of the equipment is required after each cider run, including washing equipment with water and cleaning tanks with warm soapy water. Cleaning duties also entail the use of a pressure washer to wash equipment and floors. Workers will pack apples according to the quality standards and methods of the employer. Workers will sort apples according to size, color, and grade before packing; line boxes, cartons, or crates with treated paper or cardboard; place apples in containers for storage or shipment; and weigh, stamp, grade, brand, and date packing containers. Workers may be asked to operate trucks or other multi-purpose vehicles to transport workers from housing (whether on or off farm) to the farm properties; haul tools, supplies, or crops; transport workers from place to place around the farm properties during the workday (including on public roads to reach farmer's fields); and/or transport workers to the grocery store, bank, or laundry facilities on an as needed basis. Workers that are requested to drive will be required to possess a valid drivers license; no worker will be rejected for not having a driver's license. Workers who do drive will still perform the same field work and other duties as non-driving workers; driving is not a primary duty. Workers will also perform general orchard tasks including, but not limited to, pruning and planting apple trees, repairing apple storage bins, repairing fences, and repairing trellises. Workers must have the knowledge and ability to prune, thin, and train apple trees. The work assigned will be physically demanding, and workers will be required to bend, stoop, and kneel for extended periods. Workers must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently. Workers must be able to repeatedly handle and climb a 20-foot ladder while carrying an apple-picking bucket harnessed over the workers' shoulders to hand-pick apples. Other duties will include driving a tractor and picking up brush from the orchard floor. Workers will not be scheduled for a full 12-hour shift. Workers may be offered additional hours beyond the standard schedule, subject to the mutual agreement of the worker and management. The daily and weekly work schedules may vary depending on orchard conditions, including weather, sunlight, temperature, and crop readiness.in various extreme weather conditions from damp, cold spring and fall days to hot, humid summer days
