Classification Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma or equivalent and three years of relevant experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
Job Description:
Integrated Pest Management (IPM): Implements and oversees the facility-wide Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Plan, including the maintenance of required written and digital records. Applies pesticides as needed in compliance with state and federal regulations and ensures accurate documentation of all pesticide applications. The incumbent must be capable of conducting these activities independently while maintaining constant communication with the Farm Manager.
Equipment Operation and Technology Use:
- Operates a wide range of farm and motorized equipment, including equipment equipped with navigation and mapping technologies.
- This includes the safe and compliant operation of pesticide application equipment.
- Driving will be required
Equipment and Vehicle Maintenance:
- Oversees the maintenance of WFREC-owned vehicles and equipment, including oil changes, lubrication, filter replacement, and routine transmission service.
- Perform minor repairs and select major repairs on WFREC vehicles as appropriate.
Research, Extension, and Teaching Support:
- Consults and collaborates with faculty in the planning and execution of research projects, demonstration activities, and teaching activities.
Field Plot Operations:
- Oversees planting, fertilizing, harvesting, and sampling of research and extension demonstration plots.
- Maintains accurate digital and written records related to field activities and plot management.
- Serves as a backup for Farm Supervisor.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Contributes to and prepares reports related to research facility operations, field activities, and compliance requirements.
Other duties as assigned.
Expected Salary:
Commensurate with experience: Hourly Rate of $21.55/hr-$25.19/hr
Required Qualifications:
- Must be able to maintain Florida Driver's License.
- Must have or obtain a pesticide applicator's license within 90 days.
Preferred:
- Demonstrated proficiency in standard office software applications, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
