Duties Description Under the supervision of the Deputy Regional Director, the incumbent is principally responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and delivery of the following program areas: Occupational Health and Safety (OSHA, PESH, CDC, DOH, DOL etc.); Visitor Safety (risk management); Playground Safety (CPSC/ASTM); Automatic External Defibrillator Program (OGS, DOH, EHS); Scaling Program; the Water Safety program (DOH); and assist with the hazardous tree inspection program. The incumbent will:
Minimum Qualifications For Permanent Competitive Appointment:
To be considered for permanent appointment, candidates must be reachable on the current Civil Service eligible list or be eligible for reassignment, reinstatement or transfer in accordance with Civil Service Law.
NOTE: Consecutive transfers resulting in an advancement of more than two salary grades are not permitted under Civil Service Law.
For Permanent Non-Competitive NY HELPS Appointment:
This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).*
To be considered for appointment through NY HELPS, or 55 b/c, candidates must meet the minimum qualifications for this position. The qualifications are:
Candidates must have eight years of experience in the development and administration of occupational health and safety programs for an organization of 500 or more employees.
Or
Possess a bachelor's or higher degree in occupational safety and health, industrial hygiene, or industrial engineering AND four years of experience as described above.
At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.

One year of permanent competitive, non-competitive NY HELPS, or 55-b/55-c service as an Agency Safety and Health Representative 2.
Open Competitive Minimum Qualifications:

Or
Possess a bachelor's or higher degree in occupational safety and health, industrial hygiene, or industrial engineering AND four years of experience as described above.
