Hourly Rate: $35 (non-negotiable)

LEAP’s Afterschool Assistant Program Directors are responsible for overall site management and operations in alignment with LEAP strategic and organizational goals while integrating stakeholder customization and integration, as well as all NYS School Age Child Care laws, regulations, and policies. The After School Assistant Program Director will assist the Afterschool Program Director with the overall supervisor of the LEAP Afterschool arts integrated programming, and is responsible for managing/training the staff, streamlining program curricula working closely with LEAP internal departments and Education Specialists, building capacity through community and stakeholder partnerships, and establishing an organizational structure for the program. The Afterschool Assistant Program Director will work closely with LEAP Program Director, senior staff and internal departments in alignment with LEAP’s vision and mission, and in strong partnership with school partners.
Safety: Ensure the safety and security of each participant by ensuring programs operate in compliance with all applicable LEAP, and New York State School Age Child Care protocols and procedures.
Staffing/ Youth Participation: Recruitment & train program staff in a variety of youth and professional development areas; Coordinate and following up on participant outreach, enrollment and attendance to meet programmatic goals and stakeholder benchmarks; Oversee staff scheduling, timesheets & coordination
Events: Plan, organize, and produce LEAP, DYCD and school partnership events evidencing high quality arts-based programming.
Programmatic Oversight/ LEAP Partner Agency Requirements: Monitoring, evaluating, and managing all aspects of a program to ensure its quality, effectiveness, and alignment with stated goals; Ensure all funder and regulatory agency data requirements are met and submitted in a timely manner,
Budget Adherence: Ensure and track that the budget and expenses are aligned and maintained within the organizational financial guidelines, including staffing, supplies, and other expenses.
Internal Support: Attend staff meetings, professional development opportunities, training sessions, & special events to enhance knowledge & skills, as required, inclusive of those outside program hours
Data Collection & Reporting: Tracking attendance, event participation, surveys, and other organizational data asks, supporting the generation of reports to assess the program's effectiveness
We seek a strong, organized leader who can support the day-to-day operations of the program, manage staff, and serve as a thought partner in planning, implementation, and problem-solving.

Knowledge of Child Development: Understanding of child development principles & best practices; experience working with school-aged children in a recreational or educational setting
Adaptability & Technology Skills: Ability to adjust teaching methods based on student needs; being adept at various software applications such as Microsoft Office, Google Suite, online meeting platforms, & other afterschool program software
Work Ethic & Professionalism: Demonstrated commitment to youth development & strengths-based approaches professional demeanor & ability to maintain confidentiality
Required Qualifications:
Two (2) years supervisory experience required
Prior management and supervisory experience required
Bilingual (fluent in English and Spanish), preferred
Familiarity with diverse ethnic and cultural communities
Outstanding organizational, collaborative, critical thinking, and writing skills
Sensitivity to parent concerns and child development issues
Enthusiasm, creativity, initiative and the ability to adapt quickly to change
The proven ability to serve as a dynamic team leader
Experience working with youth and families in a school-based or community-based setting preferred (i.e. afterschool or NYC Public Schools)
Capacity to thrive under pressure while working on multiple tasks and projects
Ability to maintain State Central Registry (SCR) and fingerprint clearance throughout the duration of employment
Not required but a plus: A New York State Children’s Program Administrator Credential OR
A School-Age Child Care Credential OR
An associate’s degree in Child Development, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation or a related field.
Not required but a plus: Familiarity with Program Budgeting, and fiscal management
Not required but a plus: Familiarity with DYCD Online and database management
Not required but a plus: Proficiency in Salesforce, Microsoft Office Suite, Email, Internet, Zoom/Google Classroom and computer savvy
