After School Program Teacher - Beechmont Center

The Hope Place Teacher will serve as a classroom teacher for our K-5 afterschool program. This person will be responsible for leading a group of kids while teaching gospel centered social and emotional skills in a trauma informed environment. This is a part-time role.

What You Will Be Doing:

• Creating a trauma informed classroom environment.
• Leading a group of up to 20 kids in daily social and emotional check-in time.
• Keeping track of kids during all activities outside of the classroom.
• Preparing monthly lesson plans for daily activities.
• Working with SE!KIDS ministry leader to help prepare weekly kids' curriculum and activities.

• Home visits - reaching out to parents and visiting them at home at least 1x per semester.
• Parent engagement - stay in contact with parents to keep them informed as to how their child is doing at Hope Place and inviting them to all events.
• Child engagement - please be intentional about building relationships with the children, participating in activities alongside the kids, and being involved outside of normal Hope Place hours when possible.
• School connection - reaching out to teachers to discuss reading, math, social issues, IEPs, etc.
• Volunteer engagement - recruit volunteers whenever possible, send thank you notes, calls, or texts to express appreciation.
• Be present and ready no later than 4pm each weekday.
• Participate in weekly staff meetings.
• Daily cleanup for Hope Place spaces.
• Maintain a positive working relationship with other staff and volunteers.

• Engaged member of Southeast Christian Church, or willing to become one.
