This position is responsible for:

Leads children's activities in and after school program including classroom training, tutoring, sports activities, bible study, computer programs and specialized programs; prepares and serves children snacks; assists in leading activities and maintains the cleanliness of the program areas. Prepares and maintains up-to-date records and required reports (attendance, development progress, discipline reports, etc.); prepares and processes supply orders; Maintains the after school program materials in an orderly fashion; maintains accountability necessities of the programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides constant care of the needs of the children in an efficient, clean, loving, safe, secure, and healthy manner.
  • Develops and implements lesson plans which are age-group program specific; utilizes age-group appropriate discovery areas, enriched with program-specific activities, including teacher-made materials and hands-on activities.
  • Determines appropriate supplies and materials for lesson plans and recreational activities; ensures the children's safety in utilizing the same.
  • Cleans kitchen, classrooms, tables, floors, etc. in accordance with established sanitary standards.
  • Ensures the accountability, security, and safety of children participating in camp activities and field trips; reports all accidents to the supervisor in an accurate and timely manner.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking.
  • Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting, and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5-10% of work time.
  • Work is performed in a normal office environment where there is little or no physical discomfort associated with changes in weather or discomfo1is associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.; AND
  • Two (2) years' experience teaching child development programs in a church, OR
  • Any combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Valid Driver's License
  • C.P.R. and First Aid Certification
