JOB SUMMARY:

Leads after school care programming for Youth Leadership Academy Middle School in Pickens, SC. Supervises children; while in their care, knowing where they are at all times. Assist children with homework. Maintain a clean, safe and healthy environment indoors and outdoors. Perform in accordance with policies and procedures of Youth Leadership Academy.

JOB DUTIES:

35% - Essential - Safety:

Ability to evaluate emergency situations and act decisively and protectively to resolve problems. Care providers need to be apprised of state laws on child safety procedures and creating a safe environment for children. Acts as mentors, and model good decision-making and social skills.

25% - Essential - School work:

Coordinate with teachers to provide additional support for kids outside the classroom, helping with reading, math and other subjects. Ensure kids get their homework completed or spend time studying for tests.

25% - Essential - Playtime:

Planning and supervising activities to do for kids in after school care. The attendant must keep a close eye on the kids, maintaining sight supervision of the children at all times. Attendant must watch out for any behavioral or emotional issues they may need to discuss with parents or the school director. Maintain a fun and enthusiastic attitude to create a positive environment for students. Ensure area is clean and equipment and games are stored properly.

15% - Essential - Bookkeeping:

Maintain the sign in and sign out log. Ensure children are picked up by those authorized to do so. Collect payments for after school care. Log in payments in accordance with YLA policies and procedures.

No Budget Responsibilities - No fiscal responsibility for the departments budget.

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

Salary: $15 / hour

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidates previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemsons compensation guidelines.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL

Normal Operations

Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
