Position Summary

Identify and assist customers who are experiencing credit problems due to financial hardship. Identify and work with Social Service agencies throughout the service territory. Coordinates and secures financial assistance and counseling for hardship customers. Monitors customer accounts and follows up with customers via telephone, correspondence or through in-person events. Enters into payment arrangements with low-income customers.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Ability to work with special needs households for the purpose of securing assistance or arrangements to make bill payment. Possess negotiating skills that seek resolution and minimize long term financial exposure to the company.

  • Ability to work in high volume department where customer data and payment information need to be accurately coordinated. This includes a significant amount of time on the phone with agencies and customers and translating information to the billing system.

  • Must possess knowledge of consumer protection laws that pertain to utilities in service territory. This would include billing system knowledge of Inability to Pay and Agency Assistance.

  • Analyze and monitor customer information to accurately determine appropriate credit action.

  • Able to assist customers through various channels including in-person events, telephone, and digital platforms.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED, with 2-4 years of customer related experience.

  • Basic knowledge of energy assistance processes with experience in working with outside customers.

Preferred Requirements

  • Familiarity with medical account processes preferred.

  • Bilingual.

Non-Bargaining

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $17.40 to $24.34 per hour
