AFES Field Research Technician- Delta Junction

The Fairbanks Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station is seeking an agricultural research technician for the summer of 2026. This is a seasonal position located in Delta Junction that runs from late April through September(Flexible). This position supports the day-to-day operations and maintenance of agricultural research plots by working closely with AFES staff and research faculty. These are full-time outdoor positions working 40-hour weeks Monday through Friday in all weather conditions including; sun/heat, rain, wind, smoke and snow.
To thrive in this role the applicant must have experience working in a fast-paced outdoor environment and demonstrate the skills necessary to successfully perform the job duties as described. The applicant should demonstrate self-motivation and individual initiative. They should have the ability to shift focus quickly and react to unforeseen events. They should enjoy working in a physically demanding, outdoor environment in different elements such as rain, cold, heat, and potentially annoying insects. They should be friendly and eager to interact with the public and co-workers. They should be able to effectively communicate to staff about any safety issues that involve staff. They should be able to maintain a positive attitude and also be able to communicate effectively if a problem or question arises
Minimum Qualifications:
Must possess a valid Alaska driver's license or the ability to obtain one.
Must have reliable personal transportation (vehicle)
Must demonstrate ability to maintain productivity both independently and as a member of a team
Must be 18 years of age or older
Position Details:
This position is located in Delta Junction Alaska. This is a full-time, non-exempt temporary staff position. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 76, based on education and experience.
