This is a CONTINUOUS recruitment for an applicant POOL to fill part-time, temporary, hourly assignments on an as-needed basis. Departments or Divisions will refer to the POOL of applications on file to fill temporary assignments as the need arises. You will be contacted by the hiring manager should the department/division be interested in scheduling an interview. Position Summary Information
Job Description Summary
The purpose of this position is to provide advising services to students majoring in Liberal Arts and specialized programs and information on taking specialized assessments.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree.
Three (3) years working experience in a higher education environment or career counseling/advising experience in a secondary/post-secondary environment.
Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy maintaining records.
Excellent organizational skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and strong customer service skills.
Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with students, faculty, staff, and public.
Preferred Qualifications
Advising experience.

Job Duty
Provide full admissions support services to prospective and current students in terms of completing an admissions application, financial aid application, DMC Foundation application, and any other required applications or information needed to enroll in an academic or continuing education program.

Provide prospective students with Texas Success Initiative (TSI) assessment advising to ensure compliance. Possess the ability to provide students with information on approved TSI assessments and other relevant state approved assessments.

Provide Liberal Arts Advising services, as well as provide students majoring in specialized programs with proper advising and information on taking specialized assessments.
Job Duty
Update student records as necessary. Provide students with admissions and financial aid status, orientation on how to pay for tuition/fees, set-up a payment plan, etc. by navigating through Datatel/Colleague enrollment system.
Job Duty
Refer current and prospective students to appropriate departments and programs for assistance, including the Career Center, VA Center, Disability Services, and Admissions/Registrar.
Job Duty
Maintain current knowledge of federal and internal regulations such as FERPA. Maintain current knowledge of College activities and programs.

Other related duties as assigned.
