Adventure Club Summer Program 2026 - Lead & Assistants

Location - Westonka Middle School (1881 Commerce Blvd)

Position available - Monday, June 8 - Friday, August 14 , 2026
Closed: (June 19 & July 1-3)

Education/Certification:

• High school graduate or equivalent

• Completion of some college level or education courses strongly preferred

• Experience working with children

• Current CPR & First Aid certification (or ability to obtain if hired - training provided)

Experience:

• Strong communication skills

• Demonstrated success of experience working with children, families, planning, organizing, and promoting programs.

Rate - $14.00 - $22.33 - Based on education and experience; also eligible for sick leave.

Child management responsibilities include the following:

• Ability to keep a group of children safe in a variety of program spaces

• Maintenance of attendance and counts for a group of children

• Active engagement with children in all activities during program hours

• A patient, warm, understanding and receptive attitude towards all children

• Ability to implement behavior modification in cooperation with program policies

• Ability to initiate and lead a group of children in a project, gym game, through challenging social situations, etc.

• Encouraging conversation and problem-solving among children by using effective communication, redirection, reflection and role modeling

• Ability to effectively manage a small group of children on off-site field trips

• Respond to health and special needs of children, ensuring all children are provided necessary accommodations

• Other duties as assigned by the Site Supervisor or Assistant Site Supervisor

Communication responsibilities include the following:

• Greeting children and families in a positive and friendly manner

• Communicating positive feedback to parents on a regular basis

• Informing the Site Supervisor or Assistant Site Supervisor of incidents or accidents

• Ability to write and verbally communicate behavior and accident reports in accordance with program guidelines

• Attendance at regularly scheduled staff meetings and in-service trainings

• Strong ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality of information regarding children, families & staff

• Positively and successfully work as a member of the team

• Effectively communicate with parents, school staff, youth enrichment staff and program staff

• Communicating regularly with program staff, ability to regularly check email for important schedule or training information, and checking the staff board daily

• Positively and successfully perform with work team dynamics

• Promotes a team concept through active participation in meetings, staff trainings, coaching from Supervisors, and positive role modeling

• Other duties as assigned by the Site Supervisor or Assistant Site Supervisor

Lead responsibilities include the following:

• Setting up and putting away games, equipment, and supplies as indicated on the weekly program schedule or as directed by the Site Supervisor or Assistant Site Supervisor

• Implementation of program policies and procedures

• Maintaining records as directed by the Site Supervisor or Assistant Site Supervisor

• Keeping program and storage areas clean and orderly

• Weekly sanitizing of toys and equipment

• Other duties as assigned by the Site Supervisor or Assistant Site Supervisor

Aid responsibilities include the following:

• Ability to plan and lead developmentally appropriate activities for small and large groups of children in the areas of, but not limited to: cooking, science, physical fitness, art, dramatic play, diversity and inclusion, social skills, and technology.

• Guide and provide direction to the program assistants/aides
