Advanced Practice Provider (APP) - Trauma Acute Care Surgery

Position Overview Surgical Affiliates Management Group Inc. (SAMGI) is seeking experienced Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants to join the Trauma and Acute Care Surgery (ACS) program at Northwest Texas Healthcare System in Amarillo, TX.

Northwest Texas Healthcare System is a 495-bed acute care hospital and Level II Trauma Center with a residency program launching July 2026 in partnership with Texas Tech. This role offers the opportunity to practice in a well-supported team-based environment managing a broad range of trauma and acute surgical patients.

Program Highlights

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and manage trauma and ACS patients across ED, inpatient, and ICU settings
  • Assist with procedures and perioperative care
  • Participate in consults, admissions, and daily rounding
  • Collaborate with surgeons, intensivists, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Participate in discharge planning and care coordination
  • Maintain timely and accurate EMR documentation

Qualifications

  • NP or PA with active licensure in Texas or eligible
  • Trauma, surgical ICU, or emergency medicine experience preferred
  • Ability to manage high-acuity patients in a team-based environment
  • Strong communication and clinical decision-making skills

Schedule & Compensation

  • Schedule: 12-hour shifts, approximately 18-3 shifts per month (~15 months)
  • Compensation: ~$150,000 annually
  • Full benefits package including CME, malpractice, and licensure support
