Major/Essential Functions

•  Provides obstetrical care to low and high-risk patients.
•  Completes physical examinations, routine prenatal examinations and teaching, evaluation of disease processes, and referral to specialists as needed.
•  Prescribes and/or issues medications and supplements as appropriate by protocol and certification.
•  Provides routine well-woman and low-risk gynecological care, evaluation of disease processes, and referral to specialists as needed.
•  Prescribes and/or issues medications and supplements as appropriate by protocol and certification.
•  Records and reviews patient records via the electronic system.
•  Completes charge sheet entries accurately and in a timely manner to facilitate charge reimbursement.
•  Abides by billing and coding directives as provided by management.
•  Provides education and counsel appropriate to the medical needs of the patient. 
•  Maintains current licensure and continuing medical education credits as required by Texas State Law.

Preferred Qualifications

•  Master of Science degree in Nursing OR Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies.
•  For Nurse Practitioners: National Nurse Practitioner Certification in Women’s Health, Adult or Family and / or Certified Midwifery.
•  Current DEA or ability to obtain (to prescribe controlled substances).
•  1+ year of experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in an OB/GYN or Women’s Health clinic setting.
•  Current NPI and / or PTAN number or ability to obtain (for HIPPA transactions/billing services).

Required Qualifications

Graduation from a Physician Assistant's training program approved by the Council on Allied Health Education Accreditation of the American Medical Association. Current Physician Assistant license in the State of Texas or ability to transfer license to Texas. Certification as a Physician Assistant as evidenced by passing the examinations given by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants. OR Graduation from an accredited school of nursing as a nurse practitioner from an approved certification program recognized by Texas Board of Nursing. Current R.N. license as approved by the Texas Board of Nursing or ability to transfer license to Texas. Certification as a Nurse Practitioner from an approved certification program as recognized by Texas Board of Nursing or ability to transfer certification to Texas.

Visa Information

TTUHSC, at its sole discretion, may initiate new H-1B I-129 visa petitions in accordance with the directive issued by Governor Abbott. Approval from the Texas Workforce Commission is required. On a limited, case-by-case basis, the institution may also sponsor eligible individuals for change-of-status or change-of-employer petitions for qualifying positions. TTUHSC will not pay the $100,000 fee, if applicable.
