Overview:

Purpose Statement/Position Summary:

Are you interested in the NICU Tract?  Under the guidance of APP Leadership, APP Fellowship Program Leaders, Preceptors, Mentors, and other health-care professionals at CHLA, will participate in a time limited, twelve-month rotational fellowship training program to build Advanced Practice skills. Develop the academic knowledge and clinical advanced practice fundamentals, and administrative experience necessary to be an exemplary Advance Practice provider. Full time employment is not guaranteed at the end of the fellowship.

Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience:
• Knowledge of pediatric patient care principles, and ability to manage specialty patient care and emergencies by prioritizing patient care acuity and tasks, collaborating with entire care team critically, comprehensively both verbally and in writing.
• Pediatric clinical experience preferred.
• Less than 2-year experience as Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.

 

Education/Licensure/Certification required for Nurse Practitioner: 
• Master of Science degree in Nursing from an accredited graduate school of nursing approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing for “hold out as Nurse Practitioner” as defined in Nurse Practice Act, Business and Professional Code.
• Current, unrestricted   California Nurse-Practitioner license

. Neonatal Nurse-Practitioner [NICU Track]

  • NP Furnishing license required
    • Current national certification as nurse-practitioner in area of educational training:
    • Outpatient patient care and consulting services:
    • Primary-care Certification preferred.
    • In-patient/Out-patient patient care
    • Acute care OR Dual Certification preferred.
    • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) & Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

Required for Physician Assistant: 

  • Graduate of a Physician Assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) AND/OR Health-related master’s degree.
  • Current Physician Assistant (PA) Licensure & DEA
    • Certification in the State of California required as a Physician Assistant by a nationally accredited Physician Assistant organization.
    • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) & Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
