Advanced Patient Care Technician (APCT) – Emergency Room (Full-Time)

The Staff Pad has partnered with a hospital in Las Vegas, New Mexico, to hire a full-time Advanced Patient Care Technician (APCT) for the Emergency Department. Position Overview:
The APCT supports physicians and nursing staff in providing efficient, compassionate care to patients in the Emergency Room. This role requires strong clinical skills, the ability to prioritize in high-acuity situations, and a commitment to patient safety and service excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet, assess, and assist patients with immediate care needs in the ER
- Accurately document patient conditions, treatments, and interactions while maintaining confidentiality
- Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and care teams to deliver timely, safe, and effective care
- Perform clinical duties within scope of practice, including:
- Vital signs monitoring
- Point-of-care testing
- Phlebotomy
- EKGs
- Assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
- Support emergency interventions and patient management as needed
- Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked clinical environment
- Provide one-on-one observation for high-risk patients, including those at risk of self-harm
- Assist with unit operations including answering phones, coordinating transfers, and general support duties
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Completion of an accredited EMT program
- Current state certification or licensure required
- BLS required; ACLS and PALS required within 90 days of hire
- Ability to work full-time (36 hours/week) with 12-hour shifts (days or nights)
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and rotating schedules
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least 1 year of direct clinical experience in a healthcare setting
- Strong ability to prioritize and respond to patient needs in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Experience with EMR systems and basic computer proficiency
- Commitment to infection control and patient safety standards
- Physical ability to bend, stoop, and lift up to 35 lbs using proper body mechanics
