Build with purpose. Deliver with precision.

At TOMZ, every component you machine supports life‑improving medical devices. We’re looking for an advanced CNC professional who thrives on complex setups, unwavering quality, and coaching others to higher standards.

Your Mission

  • Lead setups and production on Swiss machines (Citizen, Tsugami), Index multi‑spindles, and 3‑/4‑/5‑axis platforms, including RoboDrills, mill‑turns, and H/V mills.
  • Own offsets, tooling changes, and in‑process optimization to meet throughput and quality targets with limited oversight.
  • Validate parts using microscopes, micrometers, calipers, pin/thread gauges, comparators, Micro‑Hite, CMM, and vision systems.
  • Execute preventive maintenance to maximize uptime and reliability.
  • Drive corrective actions for complex equipment/process challenges using structured problem‑solving.
  • Maintain ISO 13485 documentation; complete/compile records for quality inspection standards.
  • Control material identification and traceability for both conforming and nonconforming items.
  • Advance Quality Best Practices and continuous improvement in GDP/GMP.
  • Coach lower‑level machinists; help build a learning culture.
  • Document inspections and traceability within ERP and QMS environments.
  • Model safe behaviors and comply with occupational safety, health, and PPE guidance.
  • Follow the TOMZ Quality Management System and support other duties as assigned.

What Sets You Up for Success

  • Hands‑on experience in Class I/II/III medical device production under regulated controls with calibrated equipment and exposure to hazardous materials as applicable.
  • Or, proven performance in similarly regulated sectors (aerospace, defense, automotive).
  • Knowledge of GMP/ISO frameworks.
  • Self‑directed, team‑minded professional who collaborates across R&D, Manufacturing, and QA.
  • Deep practical understanding of machine operation, care, and inspection practices.
  • Comfort with hand tools for PM, minor repairs, and tool exchanges.
  • Fluent in reading and applying blueprints, specifications, and procedures.
  • Meticulous, organized, and effective at detecting nonconformances.
  • Intermediate GD&T fluency.

Education & Experience

  • Technical school certification strongly preferred; equivalent, directly transferable manufacturing/engineering experience considered.
  • 3–7 years in a regulated manufacturing environment.

Communication

  • Strong English language skills, written and verbal.

Physical & Environmental Expectations

  • Lift up to 50 lbs; use team or mechanical assistance above that threshold.
  • Perform repetitive hand/arm motions while handling up to 20 lbs; grip, twist, and place components for extended periods; lift overhead as needed.
  • 20/20 vision (corrected or uncorrected) to sort raw/nonconforming material; fine dexterity for small‑to‑medium parts.
  • Work around oils, grease, noise, solvents, dust, metal particles, sparks, coolant, and sharp edges; PPE such as safety glasses, dust masks, ear plugs, and cut‑ or chemical‑resistant gloves, plus engineering controls, may be required.
  • Stand or sit for prolonged periods.

Shift Options & Differentials

  • Weekend Shift: 20% differential, 5:00 AM–5:00 PM, Fri–Sun
  • 2nd Shift: 15% differential, 5:00 PM–3:30 AM
  • 1st Shift: No differential

Key Competency

  • GD&T

Primary Equipment

  • CNC Swiss Lathe (Citizen, Tsugami)
  • CNC Mill (5+ axis VMC)
  • CNC Lathe (5+ axis)
