Your day, engineered for impact

You arrive to find automated cells humming and non-automated stations staged. Before the first part is cut, you verify TRUMPF programs, confirm the Motoman YRC1000 is synced, and run HMI checks. A quick tweak to a nesting program lifts machine utilization; a clamp offset fixes a fit-up issue; an operator huddle sets the tone for safety, takt, and quality. Throughout the shift you collaborate with Design Engineering, R&D, Supply Chain, Operations, and production supervision to keep work flowing and targets met.

What you’ll tackle

  • Own programming, operation, and routine maintenance of assigned manufacturing equipment across sheet metal automation and robotic welding.
  • Set up and operate machining centers; navigate HMI controls; load parts/assemblies; lead troubleshooting of part fit-up and system functions.
  • Program new tasks, resolve automation inefficiencies, and restart equipment after malfunctions; engage external suppliers when needed.
  • Work from solid models and blueprints to produce R&D parts; perform parts analysis, time studies, and validate prototypes for quality and function.
  • Monitor process health, propose improvements, and optimize efficiency by adjusting equipment parameters to meet schedule and takt.
  • Conduct quality checks, minor repairs, inspections, and timely breakdown reporting; maintain logs and a clean, safe work area.
  • Coordinate pre- and post-line operations, communicate status to Line Lead and Production Supervisor, and escalate technical issues to Technicians/Engineers.
  • Train new hires and upskill tenured team members; facilitate operator preventive maintenance tasks and report findings to Management and Maintenance.
  • Manage technology KPIs and report out on on-time delivery, quality, takt management, and machine utilization.
  • Comply with company policies, procedures, and industry regulations; perform other duties as assigned.

Systems you’ll support

  • TRUMPF: Programming, operational, planning software solutions and equipment.
  • Motoman YRC 1000 robot controller.
  • Microsoft Office Suite and interaction with HMI.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma required; Associate’s in a focused technology preferred (not required).
  • Licenses/Certifications: Robotics or programming certifications desirable; Welding certification desirable; Crane certification.
  • Hands-on skill: Hand tools, measuring devices, tape measure reading; machine setups for production runs.
  • Controls and code: PLC troubleshooting and programming experience; HMI navigation skills desirable.
  • Platforms: TRUMPF applications or similar machine tools; CAD and production programming software.
  • Manufacturing tech: Lasers, bend cells, robotics, robotic weld cells, automation, mechatronic systems.
  • Diagnostics: Intermediate troubleshooting of part-sensing fixtures and clamping systems; strong machine systems knowledge; read/understand maintenance and repair instructions.
  • Foundations: Knowledge of manufacturing technologies and production software; intermediate computer knowledge; basic math for measurement.
  • Domain know‑how: Welding and assembly/parts fit-up; cutting (laser), forming, and fit-up of parts; intermediate electrical and hydraulics desirable.
  • Digital solutions: Familiarity with smart glasses, condition monitoring, and OEE applications.
  • Team traits: Strong safety ethic; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; team player who can lead.
