As an Advanced 5‑Axis CAM Applications Engineer, you’ll translate complex geometry into robust, production‑ready toolpaths and fixtures, elevate internal automation, and help define processes that scale reliably across hundreds of parts.

A day in the role

• Morning: Review prints, tolerances, and CMM data; map manufacturing intent; outline a safe and efficient setup plan.
• Midday: Build CAM strategies in hyperMILL and NX, leverage Hadrian’s Co‑Pilot CAM integration, and generate clean, standards‑compliant post output (G‑code/M‑code).
• Afternoon: Design and model rigid, error‑proof fixtures in Siemens NX using 3‑2‑1 locating, Poka‑Yoke, and equation‑driven features; create clear work instructions that enable even less experienced setup personnel to succeed.
• All day: Partner with software and operations teams, report workflow/factory bugs promptly, and fold frontline feedback into continuous CAM process improvements.

What you’ll own

• Produce reliable CAM packages and CNC programs for tight‑tolerance, complex parts that follow Hadrian programming principles.
• Author comprehensive, step‑by‑step setup and run documentation for diverse skill levels.
• Continuously test and guide internal automation—identify gaps, trends, and edge cases; communicate issues immediately and propose fixes.
• Integrate shop‑floor feedback to streamline programs and standard operating procedures; standardize outputs for repeatability across large part counts.
• Spot process gaps and communicate them to CAM Process Designers for inclusion or revision.
• Practice disciplined CAD workflows (design‑tree best practices and internal standards) to ensure traceable, reusable models.
• Collaborate using email, chat tools, and the Microsoft Office suite to keep work visible and decisions documented.

What you bring

• Hands‑on programming experience for 3‑ and/or 5‑axis CNC equipment in production environments with high‑precision demands.
• Background in aerospace or similarly regulated industries.
• Safety mindset, strong quality orientation, and sound tool selection fundamentals.
• Working knowledge of GD&T and the ability to interpret CMM reports to diagnose dimensional instability and drive corrective action.
• Curiosity and resilience to explore new methods and push development forward in live operations.
• Integrity under pressure and a bias for team‑first, action‑oriented problem solving.

Stand‑out capabilities

• Experience with steels, stainless, titanium, and Inconel.
• 5‑axis proficiency and mill‑turn familiarity.
• Embedded probing routines within CNC programs.
• Data fluency to detect patterns and inefficiencies; experience with analytics tools.
• Continuous learner mindset—Industry 4.0, IoT, AI in manufacturing, and lean principles; adaptability to evolving tech is core to Hadrian’s mission.

Tooling and platforms you’ll touch

• CAM: hyperMILL, Siemens NX (plus familiarity with Mastercam, Esprit, SprutCAM, Autodesk Fusion 360, ProMill, HSMWorks, BobCAD, Surfcam, GibbsCAM, Mazatrol).
• Machines: 5+ axis VMCs and 5+ axis CNC lathes.
