The Adult Education Career and Workforce Advisor
reports to the Waubonsee Works Program Manager and serves as an integral member
of the Adult and Workforce Education division, supporting the alignment of
academic instruction, career pathways, and workforce readiness. The Advisor
maintains a caseload of participants and provides comprehensive case
management, including individualized planning, progress monitoring, and
connecting students to academic, career, and supportive resources. In this
role, the Advisor collaborates closely with faculty, program staff, and
instructional teams within Adult and Workforce Education to support Bridge and
ICAPS programming and ensure coordinated services for WIOA-funded students. The
Advisor also partners across the college with Career Services and academic
departments to align student supports and create seamless pathways into credit
and noncredit programs.
Externally, the Advisor builds relationships with
employers, workforce partners, and community-based organizations to expand
career opportunities, facilitate work-based learning, and connect students to
wraparound services. The Advisor delivers workshops on job search strategies,
resumes, interviewing, and professional branding, while using labor market
information to guide participants toward high-demand occupations.
This role requires a strong commitment to
collaboration, equity, and student-centered practice to ensure participants
achieve meaningful educational and career outcomes.
