Job Description:

The Admissions Technical Assistant reports to the Senior Director of Admissions and serves as technical support for the Admissions office. The Technical Assistant plays a critical role in ensuring the Admissions office operations and communications are timely and accurate.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide accurate information to students regarding the enrollment process, including admissions status, advising, residence life, financial aid, registration, and program specifics via phone, text, email, and in person.
  • Provide administrative and operational support for OCC's Community Education programs.
  • Monitors and ensures student compliance with immunization requirements by reviewing records in the New York State Immunization Information System (NYSIIS), maintaining accurate documentation, and communicating with students regarding outstanding requirements or deadlines.
  • Respond to inquiries from prospective students and parents, adhering to college policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and answer incoming emails in the OCCAdmissions@sunyocc.edu email account.
  • Provide administrative and operational support for the registration of new and transfer students.
  • Enter data for the Admissions team, including but not limited to, Slate CRM queries, events, and registrations.
  • Serve as primary contact for an assigned group of incoming students, assisting them through the enrollment process.
  • Attend department meetings and share updates on technical or operational processes.
  • Support outreach efforts via phone or email for new, transfer, and returning students as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate's degree from an accredited college, university or foreign equivalency and two years of work experience where an essential function involved delivering customer service.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish. English and other languages will be considered.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills together with a courteous, proactive, positive attitude well suited to dealing withs students in person, over the telephone and through other media as necessary.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule and extended hours during peak periods and at other points throughout the semester as necessary.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to changing policies and procedures.
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Proven dependability, flexibility, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment working as either a member of a diverse team or individually.
Additional Information:
  • CSEA position grade 6, anticipated salary is $46,650. Person hired for the position must meet the minimum qualifications listed here as this hire is approved through Onondaga County Civil Service.
