FLSA: Paraprofessional, Non-exempt
The role of the Admissions Counselor is to help prospective students with the recruitment and admissions process for College of The Albemarle. The Admissions Counselor will work closely with the Director, Admissions & Recruitment to plan and attend a variety of recruitment and community events throughout COA's seven-county service area. This will include high school visits, community engagement events, etc. The Admissions Counselor will also assist in the coordination of campus events focused on providing information to prospective students. The Admissions Counselor will be responsible for overseeing the online orientation in addition to counseling students on program requirements. The Admissions Counselor will provide supervision to work study students in the department as well as co-supervise the campus student ambassador program.
The Admissions Counselor will report directly to the Director, Admissions & Recruitment.
Examples of Duties
Admissions & Enrollment Support:
Serve as the primary contact for recruitment initiatives focused on high schools and community events.
Assist with the planning and execution of college wide on and off campus programs and events focused on admissions and recruitment.
Work with incoming students on the understanding and completion of all COA admissions requirements including:
Provide entry level academic and career guidance for students as they select the right program of study. Be fully educated on all COA program offerings to ensure students are directed to the correct application and enrollment process.
Educate them on all possible COA funding sources and help them locate the application for those they may qualify.
Provide assistance in completing the necessary steps for enrollment including submission of all official transcripts and completion of the online orientation.
Schedule and track prospective student campus tours for all four COA locations.
Oversee the content of the COA online orientation and assist the Admissions Specialist with updating student records upon completion of the orientation.
Provide supervision to SSEM work study students assisting in the front office and with admissions procedures.
Assist in overseeing the COA Student Ambassador program along with the COA Foundation Office.
Be knowledgeable of all services integrated through the COA admission processes including; College Foundation of NC (CFNC), FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), Residency Determination Service (RDS), Ellucian, COA MyCourses, COA MyServices, Aviso and the NC Community College placement requirements.
Collect, understand and provide general information concerning the academic and demographic profiles of students as they related to the admissions process.
Participate in programs and initiatives that facilitate student engagement, career development, success and retention.
Provide referrals to other campus and community resources when applicable.
Serve as back up to the Admissions Specialist relating to admissions communication.
Maintain the confidentiality of student information unless sharing information is due to a legitimate educational interest pursuant to FERPA and other COA Policies.

I understand the salary range for this position is $34,859 to $52,288. I acknowledge that any employment offer will be based on the Colleges compensation guidelines and may be established within the posted range based on my education, experience, and qualifications.
