Gardner-Webb University is seeking an Admissions Counselor that will work closely with the entire Undergraduate team to promote, recruit and enroll the incoming class for each semester.
General Job Description:
- Matriculates a required number of new students from a specific geographic territory annually.
- Completes weekly goals of a predetermined number of external contacts, prospective student visits to campus, new applications, new admits, and new commitments to the University.
- Creates strategies to generate interest in Gardner-Webb University and to ensure there are an adequate number of applications to meet goals within the assigned geographic territory.
- Develops a good working relationship with school counselors in all primary client schools.
- Maintains a weekly report of all applied students within their geographic territory.
- Act as a spokesperson and professional representative for the institution at college fairs and other recruitment functions.
- Coordinate and conduct private visits to high schools in territory.
- Conduct interviews and presentations with visiting students, parents, and groups.
- Attend admission functions held in the evenings and weekends.
- Set-ups Zoom meetings with various constituents including prospective students, school counselors, and parents
- Maintain proper communication and follow-up with all applicants through CRM system
- Works closely with other university staff and faculty to provide additional information to help prospective students commit to GWU
- Build and maintain relationships with prospective students, serving as a primary resource for them throughout the admissions process.
- Other projects assigned as needed by supervisor
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's required
- Admissions experience preferred

- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- He/she must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and current in social media.

- He/she should possess strong oral and written communication skills. Maintaining frequent contact with prospective students is essential to job success.
- Must possess the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from students, families, groups, school administrators, and the general public.
- Must have the ability to maintain the highest forms of professionalism at all times and under various circumstances.
Physical Requirements:
- Individual must have the ability and be licensed to operate a motor vehicle. Must be able to lift and transport up to 50 pounds.
