THE DEPARTMENT: About the OCC Enrollment Services Department
The Enrollment Center processes Admissions applications, facilitates registration and manages student financial accounts, processes transcript requests, evaluates student records received from outside Colleges and Universities for credit and course equivalencies, and grants certificates and degrees to students who complete the required courses for those awards. In addition, the Enrollment Center processes residency documents and name change requests, provides student ID cards, and processes FERPA requests. The Enrollment Center provides services to our faculty, including add permits, grade change requests, records retention, assistance with add/drop issues, end-of-term grade processing, etc. The Enrollment Center is the hub of admissions, registration, records, evaluations, and degree awarding.
About the Position
This position is with the Veterans Services department in the Enrollment Center, which focuses on administering Veteran Education Benefits to military veterans and their dependents. The primary focus of this position is validating benefits eligibility and maintaining accurate student records in compliance with federal law set by the Department of Veterans Affairs. Additional duties include, but are not limited to, reviewing program requirements, submitting regular reports to the VA, posting payments, scheduling counseling appointments, communicating with military-connected students in-person and via phone/email, and referring students to other campus resources such as our Veterans Resource Center. This position will also provide support to the Enrollment Center, providing counter assistance to students, and other clerical duties as assigned.

Summary
Performs a variety of specialized technical and clerical tasks in connection with the admission, enrollment, records, transcript evaluation and articulation, and enrollment status. Serves as a technical resource for one or more designated customer service sections with Admissions and Records, providing support to any and all other sections.
Distinguishing Career Features
The Admissions and Records Specialist represents the second level within an enrollment career path requiring demonstrated ability to serve as a subject matter specialist and perform most admissions and records functions that include, but are not limited to admissions, registration, residency determination, student enrollment status, academic progress, transcript evaluation, Faculty Services and Veteran Services. Advancement to Specialist, Senior is based on need and attainment of a high level of expertise in transcript evaluation and articulation, graduation determination, Faculty Services, Veterans Services, Admissions, Residency Determination of complex situations and Registration. In addition, the Admissions and Records Specialist, Senior requires the skills to run complex and technical processes in ancillary and Student Information Systems on a regular basis.

(ON-CAMPUS - in-person position) This is a temporary contract, special-funded, part-time (19.5 hours per week), 12-months per year classified position. The normal hours of work will be arranged between Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm,with the flexibility to occasionally work extended hours and/or weekends, if necessary, to meet the departments needs. The effective date of employment will be arranged with the supervisor. The District provides medical, dental, and vision insurance for the employee and eligible dependents, and life insurance for the employee.

Benefits are available to regular permanent employees working 20 or more hours per week. Benefits are not available to employees working less than 20 hours per week, temporary, hourly, or other short-term employees.

The District provides Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment insurance benefits, underwritten by VOYA. This district-paid benefit is equal to one time your annual salary and remains in effect until age 70. At age 70, your benefit is reduced to half.
District-paid Disability Benefits
Coast Community College District provides both a short-term disability benefit and long-term disability benefit to employees working 20 or more hours per week who are unable to work because of disability due to illness, injury, or maternity.

Academic Senate
The Academic Senate is the governing body at each of our colleges for making recommendations to administration and to our Board of Trustees with respect to academic and professional matters. Time to Refuel
Vacation - Classified employees earn vacation days commensurate with years of service. Confidential, Educational Administrators, and Classified Managers earn 22 days of vacation each fiscal year. Accrued vacation is prorated for all employee categories working less than full-time.
Sick Leave - All contract employees earn sick leave as outlined in the CA Education Code. Sick leave may be carried over from year-to-year and, upon retirement, unused sick leave may contribute to your CalPERS or CalSTRS retirement pension benefit.
Holidays - The Coast Community College District observes 22 paid holidays per year.
Jury Duty, Bereavement, Military Leave - Coast Community College District grants contract employees called to jury duty a leave of absence, without loss of pay, for the entire length of required service. Other available leaves include bereavement from 3-5 days and military leaves of absence in accordance with applicable state laws.
Great Expectations
Pension Plans - The Coast Community College District participates in the California State Teachers Retirement System (CalSTRS) and the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS) for contract employees. Non-contract employees participate in the Public Agency Retirement Services (PARS) plan for the first 1,000 hours of their employment.
Medical Benefits After Retirement - It is the policy of the Coast Community College District that contract employees, who retire from the District at age 60 or older and with fifteen or more years of service, be afforded the same group insurance benefits until 70 years of age. A Medicare Supplement plan is available to retirees and their spouses after age 70.
