Job Description Virginia Western Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education operating under the Virginia Community College System, a statewide system of community colleges. The College operates under the policies established by the State Board for Community Colleges and the Virginia Western Community College Local Advisory Board.

Virginia Western is located on a 70-acre campus in southwest Roanoke, VA. The service region of the College includes Roanoke, Salem, Roanoke County, Craig County, Franklin County, and southern Botetourt County. The College was established in 1966 and has grown from an initial enrollment of 1352 to its current annual enrollment of over 9,000 students in credit courses and more than 1,400 enrollments in fast-track workforce and continuing education courses.

Virginia Western Community College, located in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains of the Roanoke Valley, is accepting applications for part-time Administrative Management Technology AMT Adjunct Faculty in the School of Business, Technology, and Trades (BTT). Adjunct faculty positions are appointed on a course-by-course semester basis as needed. AMT adjunct faculty are needed to teach college-level courses in-person on the main Virginia Western campus as well as hybrid or distance learning online courses. Instruction may include a variety of business and skill-based courses, including computer applications leading to MOS 2019 credentials, general office skills, business communications, and administrative management concepts.

Faculty are expected to maintain currency in their teaching disciplines and in trends in community college education. In addition, faculty are expected to be active participants in departmental communication.

Applications will be received and considered on a continuous basis. Review of applications will occur when an adjunct faculty need arises and will continue until needed positions are filled.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in administrative support or management, business administration, or management • Masters degree with 18 graduate semester hours in administrative support, management, business education, management, or information systems technology • Knowledge of MS Office 2019 (365 edition) and Windows 10 • Two years of related occupational experience in business management or administrative support

All Adjunct Faculty positions require excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, ability to write syllabi and exams, ability to develop learning strategies, curriculum, and assessments, as well as the ability to work with students of varying abilities from diverse backgrounds.

Additional Considerations

• MOS certifications in 2010 or later • Office management experience • Experience using technology in the classroom and teaching online • Experience teaching in a college setting • Experience teaching at the community college level
