This position, in a highly dynamic organization, offers a broad range of opportunities to launch your career into public service. The Department of Fire & Rescue has an opening for an Administrative Coordinator in a fast-paced environment serving multiple programs and organizational levels.

About This Role:

This position is detailed in administrative tasks supporting agency administrative operations within the Office of the Chief. You will be challenged to think critically on your feet, resolve unique issues as they arise, and work in a team environment. Some duties include processing multi-step administrative actions, generating and cross-referencing reports as a member of a cross-functional team. This position will work with other Prince William County Agencies on Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) related matters.

The candidate must be able to utilize Microsoft Teams, Webex, and Zoom as necessary. The candidate must be able to interact with the public both in person and in written correspondence as a team member assigned to the Office of the Chief.

As the Administrative Coordinator, you will be tasked with

  • Administrative team projects.
  • Coordinate and follow up on FOIA related items.
  • Providing essential administrative support to the administrative team and to the Office of the Chief.
  • Providing Customer Service.
  • Working in a team environment

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3 years of administrative support experience working with a large organization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask and successfully prioritize workload
  • Ability to successfully utilize Office 365 to include but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as Adobe products.
  • Previous experience in the public sector.
  • FOIA-related experience.
  • P-Card related experience.

Special Requirements:

Background checks, which may include but are not limited to: criminal history check, credit history check, education verification check, license verification check, and/or fingerprinting, may be required as posted in the job advertisement.

Effective October 2012, mandated by the Virginia state Board of Health 12vac5-31-540, VA EMS regulations require a criminal background check conducted by the central crime records exchange and the National Crime Information Center via Virginia State Police, and a driving record transcript from the individual's state department of motor vehicles.

Work Schedule:

This is a non-exempt 37.5 hour per week, Monday - Friday with normal working hours between 8am - 5:00pm. Some telework is available with approval of supervisor.

Starting Salary Range:

$28.32 - $40.69 per hour
