    Primary Purpose:

    Provides secretarial and administrative services to the School Nutrition Department.

    Qualifications:

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. There may alternatives to the qualifications as the District may find appropriate.

    Education/Certification:

    High School Diploma or GED

    Special Knowledge/Skills:

    Proficient skills in typing, word processing, and file maintenance

    Phone etiquette with professional level telephone and verbal communication skills

    Knowledge of school district organizations, operations, and administrative policies

    Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

    Ability to work on several projects effectively

    Ability to work as part of a team

    Requires professional and courteous demeanor with public and co-workers

    Accuracy and proficiency in handling cash and general mathematics operations

    Ability to work with flexible schedule and hours (only if position requires)

    Must be Bilingual, speak and write Spanish (only if position requires)

    Experience:

    Three years of general clerical/secretarial experience

    Major Responsibilities and Duties:

    • Receives visitors and telephone calls; screens those, which can be handled without supervisor's help.
    • Composes and types correspondence, memoranda, reports, forms, and similar materials in final form into the computer, and submits to appropriate entity.
    • Sorts, distributes, and delivers mail and other documents. Processes and prepares incoming and outgoing mail.
    • Establishes and maintains appropriate files and other information; searches files for information. Obtains and maintains adequate materials and supplies.
    • Utilizes office technology and automation to complete tasks and operates office machines such as computer, calculator, fax machine, copy machines. Keeps machines in operational readiness.
    • Determines priorities and maintains office controls to ensure a timely accomplishment of tasks. Performs checks on invoices to ensure they match prices on bid documents.
    • Prepares and maintains purchase order, and other bookkeeping tasks associated with the specific position.
    • Updates office database and files.
    • Process all Free & Reduced Price Meal Applications, both online and hard copy. Assists other administrative personnel with secretarial tasks.
    • Inputs and submits all campus cafeteria grocery orders, including produce, bread, and other sundry items. Coordinates deliveries with the School Nutrition Staff.
    • Performs other tasks that may be assigned.

    None.

    Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals

    Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

    Motion: Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching

    Lifting: Frequently lifting up to 10 pounds; occasional light lifting and carrying (up to 50 pounds)

    Environment: Characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

    Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
