Grade 58 ($2,785.12 - $3,757.44) State Salary Schedule (plus local supplement)
The salary for this position is based upon the successful applicant's years of service in the NC State Retirement System in the same or similar position. Experience outside of this system is not recognized for pay purposes. For current Lincoln County School employees, this position will be paid according to the current Lincoln County Schools' pay scale.
General Purpose
Perform a wide range of administrative and office support activities for the ESL department.
Qualifications / Requirements / Duties
- high school diploma
- answer, screen and transfer inbound phone calls
- meet with parents at the ESL Welcome Center, including student enrollment, recordkeeping
- serve as interpreter/translator between students, school, home, and community in coordination with the Parent Liaison
- translate documents for the school system/schools in coordination with the Parent Liaison
- general clerical duties including photocopying, fax and mailing
- maintain electronic and hard copy filing system
- handle requests for information and data
- resolve administrative problems and inquiries
- prepare written responses to routine enquiries
- prepare and modify documents including correspondence, reports, drafts, memos and emails
- schedule and coordinate meetings, appointments
- prepare agendas for meetings and prepare schedules
- maintain office supply inventories
- coordinate maintenance of office equipment
- attend parent engagement activities at schools, as needed and in coordination with the Parent Liaison
- Must be able to perform heavy work exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to lift objects

Education and Experience
- high school diploma
- computer skills and knowledge of relevant software
- knowledge of operation of standard office equipment.
- knowledge of clerical and administrative procedures and systems such as filing and recordkeeping
- knowledge of principles and practices of basic office management
