Contributes to the department by successfully demonstrating knowledge and skills required to instruct and supervise students in the manicuring discipline. Strives to promote the safety, health and comfort of the students, employees and guests of the College. Assumes initiative for carrying out the mission and goals of the Wellness, Hospitality and Public Service Division.
Duties
Maintains mastery of subject matter and provides instruction that fulfills the requirements of the North Carolina Board of Cosmetic Art Examiners and the North Carolina Community College System for Manicure courses.
Models world-class service in a simulated salon environment that will enable students to develop manipulative skills and knowledge needed to achieve licensure.
Adheres to policies, procedures, expectations, and practices of the College, the department, and discipline.
Monitors inventory of supplies; maintains safety and infection control measures to meet North Carolina Board of Cosmetic Art Examiners requirements.
Completes and maintains accurate student grades, attendance, and performance records.
Evaluates student progress in a fair, consistent, and timely manner.
Utilizes Moodle software and maintains accurate gradebook.
Utilizes and participates in assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement for student learning outcomes to direct course and curriculum improvements.
Upholds the College Vision, Mission, Values, and Welcoming College statement.
Supports diversity in all aspects.
Establishes rapport and effective communication with department chairperson, faculty and staff, clients, peers, and students.
Minimum Requirements
Certificate in manicuring from an accredited institution or associate's degree in cosmetology from an accredited institution and two years documented experience as a Manicurist and/or Cosmetologist.
Currently holds North Carolina State Board of Cosmetic Art Examiners Manicurist license and Manicurist Teacher license or Cosmetologist license and Cosmetologist Teacher license.
Demonstrated teaching skills.
Demonstrated artistic manipulative skills in Manicuring.
Computer skills including Word, Excel and Power Point.
Preferred Qualifications
Pivot Point training.
Five years manicuring and/or cosmetology experience.
Certificate in manicure teacher training or cosmetology teacher training from an accredited institution.
Current working knowledge of salon management software such as Rosy.
CEUs and/or advanced education in manicuring.
Prior teaching experience in manicuring and/or cosmetology.
Prior teaching experience in a community college setting.
