Department: Norman A. Wiggins School of Law

Status: Part Time

Position Summary:

Campbell University Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law invites qualified candidates to apply for the position of adjunct professor of law. The law school seeks candidates to teach courses in Sales & Leases and Patent Preparation. The duties of the position include, but are not limited to, teaching second- and third-year law students the doctrinal subjects associated with these course areas. The position also involves participating in curriculum implementation and development, responding to student inquiries outside of class, and serving as a mentor to students preparing to enter the legal profession. Adjunct professors report to the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs. The adjunct appointee shall have excellent academic credentials and demonstrated skill in teaching and mentoring students, as well as a background that will contribute to excellence through institutional diversity. All Campbell University faculty are expected to support each of the five distinctives as set forth below.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Cooperate with other assigned faculty to implement a coordinated curriculum, inclusive of learning objectives

Develop and manage course materials from learning objectives and recommendations from Associate Dean of Academic Affairs

Administer tests, assignments and other exercises that permit measure of knowledge, abilities and/or performance relative to the course learning objectives

Maintain effective and timely communications with students and staff at all times

Provide students with individual feedback on assessments

Administer exams according to Law School guidelines

Complete student record keeping and submit grades in a timely and accurate manner

Participate in departmental, faculty and staff meetings as requested

Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times

Uphold and abide by Campbell Law School and Campbell University policies and procedures, including, but not limited to Title IX, and Information Security, including FERPA and other state and federal regulations

Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice

Education/Experience:

J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school

Minimum two years' legal practice experience

Prior legal practice or teaching in the area to be taught

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Demonstrated skill in teaching and mentoring students, and some experience in law practice or judicial clerkship

Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills

Demonstrate tact, a positive attitude, courtesy and discretion in dealing with faculty, staff, students, university officials and outside constituencies

Technological proficiency, including an ability to learn and deliver remote instruction

Ability to work independently and function effectively in a team and within a diverse group of people

Exercise independent judgment as necessary
