Position: Adjunct Instructor of LawDepartment: Norman A. Wiggins School of LawStatus: Part TimePosition Summary:Adjunct Instructors of Legal Research Law report to the Director of LRW and the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs. The position is a part-time appointment within the Campbell University School of Law. Adjunct LRW instructors teach in Campbell Law's required Legal Research and Writing I and II courses. Adjunct LRW instructors provide students with continuous feedback on their legal writing through individual meetings and ample written critique on finished work. Adjunct LRW instructors collaborate with the LRW Director to prepare problems, assignments, and in-class exercises for a uniform curriculum. The adjunct appointee shall have excellent academic credentials and demonstrated skill in teaching and mentoring students, as well as a background that will contribute to excellence through institutional diversity. To that end, the law school has adopted the following distinctives: (1) we offer an academic program that is highly demanding; (2) we bring together the theoretical and practical to produce thoughtful and talented lawyers; (3) we utilize the talents of a faculty that is profoundly committed to students and teaching; (4) we view the practice of law as a calling to serve others; and (5) we offer a Christian perspective on law and justice.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Cooperate with other assignedfaculty to implement a coordinated curriculum, inclusive of learning objectivesDevelop and manage course materials from learning objectives and recommendations from the Director of LRW and Associate Dean of Academic AffairsAdminister tests, assignments and other exercises that permit measure of knowledge, abilities and/or performance relative to the course learning objectivesMaintain effective and timely communications with students and staff at all timesProvide students withindividual feedback on assessmentsAdminister exams according to Law School guidelinesComplete student record keeping and submit grades in a timely and accurate mannerParticipate in departmental, faculty and staff meetings as requestedMaintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all timesUphold and abide by Campbell Law School and Campbell University policies and procedures, including, but not limited to Title IX, and Information Security, including FERPA and other state and federal regulationsOther duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without noticeEducation/Experience:J.D. from an ABA-accredited law schoolMinimum two years' legal practice experiencePrior experience instructing courses in legal research and writing is preferred.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Demonstrated skill in teaching and mentoring students, and some experience in law practice or judicial clerkshipExcellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skillsDemonstrate tact, a positive attitude, courtesy and discretion in dealing withfaculty, staff, students, university officials and outside constituenciesTechnological proficiency, including an ability to learn and deliver remote instructionAbility to work independently and function effectively in a team and within a diverse group of peopleExercise independent judgment as necessaryThis position demands accuracy, honesty, integrity and the ability to work with the Christian mission of Campbell University
