Job Purpose:

The Music Department at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington, is seeking an instructor to teach Ear Training I – III. Ear Training is a co-requisite to the Music Theory sequence. All music majors and minors are required to take Ear Training but sometimes non-majors are also able to enroll in the course. The courses meet two times a week for 50 minutes each. Additional opportunities for GU Adjunct Faculty are based on the faculty’s expertise and needs of the department.

Essential Functions:

  • Teach Ear Training 
  • Maintain regular communication with students regarding progress, goals, and expectations. 
  • Submit grades according to established deadlines. 


Minimum Qualifications:

-Bachelor's degree in Music.


Preferred Qualifications:

-Evidence of teaching effectiveness, including the ability to effectively respond to the academic needs of learners from diverse backgrounds.

-Experience teaching college age musicians.
