The Purpose

A Law Enforcement Adjunct Instructor position includes preparation for teaching and practical exercises; and delivery of lesson plans as required by Criminal Justice Training and Standards for BLET and Sheriffs Training and Standards for Detention, or other lesson plans prepared by the state or a local agency or personnel.

Examples of Duties

What Youll be Doing

• Preparation and delivery of lesson plan/material in a classroom or practical exercise
• Evaluates the performance of students and reports such to BLET School Director or Qualified Assistant.
• Enforce all regulations as to discipline and safety.
• Ensure compliance and confidentiality with all policies and procedures of the College, NC Community College System, and applicable State and Federal agencies.
• Maintain the technical competencies necessary to the job function.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

Education

High School diploma; Associate degree or higher in criminal justice, or related field preferred.

Experience

Minimum of 3 years of experience in the field of law enforcement and/or law enforcement training.

Skills and the Know-How

Criminal Justice Training and Standards Instructor Certification Required for State Commissioned. The ideal person will possess strong personal and professional integrity, effective verbal and written communication skills, and a commitment to safety. Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite or similar products, database systems, College email and website, and other computer applications associated with the position.

Physical Demands

The ability to perform all duties associated with the position including, but not limited to lifting, prolonged standing, sitting, bending, stooping, and operating or performing work with associated tools and machines.
